@Doc.
Yes experiment went well in the end. Biggest problem was getting the drivers for the ATI 5870 to work and its not as easy as NVidia. And eventually you had to have NVidia Physx installed too..... As for 5870 CF, I think our friend from the ALIENWARE Thread can provide his results for the i7 820QM with dual ATI 5870 in CF soon... |

Those using the Alienware M17x have spent considerably more than I have on my system so I wouldn't say that we're all rich, but I'd agree that some of us here are hardcore. We even get systems that aren't sold in this region and I take my hats off to those willing to go that far and take the risk

QUOTE(dark_axl21 @ Jun 14 2010, 03:14 PM) Nice specs!!! Manually change it bro and reinstall everything. Check the ALIENWARE MOTHERSHIP for updates as I will be posting pics on it soon..... Hmmm wondering how you change the GPU? Mine comes with a GTX260M, and I'm power hungry!!! |

QUOTE(Mr.Docter @ Jun 17 2010, 01:50 AM) thanks for the update dude! only thing I'm looking forward to is Physx built in.... looks like its not really good though. 5870M CrossFire still perform better and having lower power consumption. nVidia really have to shift their financial budget more to R&D than publicity. |

QUOTE(Cyclone87 @ Jun 22 2010, 01:36 PM) M15x l Intel i7 720 @ 1.6ghz l 4GB DDR3 1333 l GTX 260M l Window 7 Home x64 l I think there might be something wrong with the benchmark results. You're not supposed to get an E in front of the VANTAGE SCore plus GTX 260M GPU Scores don't go that high. I think there is an error in the calculations..... Can you try and run again bro?[attachmentid=1639807] [attachmentid=1639811] |

QUOTE(astria @ Jun 22 2010, 07:29 PM) Its cos when u check the scores with other benchmarks online, and ones I've run with the GTX 260M, That GPU doesn't hit that high. Those GPU scores are GTX 480M territory IINM. The i7 720qm does hit those marks for the CPU but the GTX 260M hits around 5kfor the GPU Scores....Source: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-...ark-thread.html @Astria: I did a search and I get what u meant. P = PERFORMANCE and E = ENTRY. All These while I've been checking out PERFORMANCE scores and not ENTRY hence why it was ALIEN to me. Right, I'll try running it on ENTRY and see the results I get cos most of the time I was discussing P Scores with the other forumers..... QUOTE(miahahaha @ Jun 22 2010, 08:29 PM) Please la bro, did you do some research about Vantage?? E is for Entry level, its the lowest benchmark tools in Vantage for benchmarking Yeah, guess you beat me to it. I did it as soon as I read Astria's comments thank you.....P = Performance Using this will give a little stress and a lot more powerful benchmark tools for benchmarking, suited for M17x |
