hi astria, mind me asking? i have installed the latest 9.9 catalyst for 4570 using modder..but the score for graphic-desktop performance for windows aero still remain very low.Or the catalyst just make your graphic performance run smooth?

well, all i can say is that WEI is a very rough benchmark... dun trust it too much...

if u can play games, i dun see y Aero sucks...

So, here's the screenshot........how do I know whether it's good for gaming???

I mean, from which specs of the graphic card we can tell whether it's suitable for gaming???

some of the key things u need to look at...

amount of shadres (or stream processors/SP) (there are 8 in ur GPU) and amount, type and speed of RAM (it's 256MB of GDDR3 running at 1360MHz DDR on ur card)...

generally speaking, the mere amount of shaders on the GPU will not let u ve a good gaming experience, even though the RAM used is good...

u can refer to the 2nd post of this thread for the relative performance of other GPU...

depends on how demanding u re...

for eg, those that let u play Crysis smoothly at high setting. they ve more than 200SP (stream processors)... laugh.gif

hmm... iirc 3D Mark 06 Basic runs only at the max possible resolution it can support for the monitor... and u can't change that...

for eg my monitor is 1366x768, but it runs at 1280x768 instead...

4850 should be higher then my GTX260M. and u r 2.4GHz(P8600) vs my 2.0(Q9000), should be higher in 3d mark 06.
*
well, on paper Q9000 will score higher since it's a quaddie...

but seriously, 3D Mark is not really a very good graphic benchmark... it's used mainly for the convenience for everyone since it's free and is used in most reviews...

that's y i would like to see in-game benchmarks or screenshots with framerate as well...

nah...

it's CPU bottleneck...

i ve tried playing on my laptop before... the graphic quality has little or no impact to the framerate... i ve abt the same fps for both max and min graphic detail...

hard to say... iirc the HD4870x2's core clock is severely underclocked compared to the desktop counterparts... the GDDR5 may not make much difference...
