Anybody here from Yamaha Music School? Instructor or taking lessons?

Went to their website but the contents are mostly introductory stuff. Would like to know more info about the electric bass and electric guitar course, + ur experiences with the school and etc...

1) Duration
2) Lesson structure
3) How much per module/all 4 modules

Or is there any other music school in Kepong which offer structured guitar lessons to guitar enthuatists? I mean with grades and stuff and not just rojak jamming sessions.

Anybody willing to share? Thank you!

you can always approach any school to find electric guitar/bass course, with a proper lesson layouts.

but you certainly cannot generalize name of a school, it's always the teacher him/herself. finding a good teacher is always a matter of luck, you may find a teacher that you think it good but end up learning in a bad way.

so don't limit yourself with just yamaha/guitar store/guitar collection etc etc, just ask around, attend some lessons. set some expectation before you go for lessons so you can observe the teacher.

not all yamaha teachers are good, but if u are lucky,u get some head teacher or something.

I study in a yamaha school, and base of my observation as a student for 13 yrs there, there is only like 1-4 good senior/experince teacher who are passionate and dedicated to teaching.

The rest are just young, new teachers.

And yes, they always pass biginners to new/young teachers unless u specailly request for the experince teacher.

But the problem is usually the experince teacher is reluctant to teach grd 1 and prefer to take grd 5 and above. and there is no garentee that u will get a slot with the good teacher as their time is pack and there is still a long line of ppl waiting to get tat specific teacher.

course fee and duration varries from each school, they are franchised but set to operate from their own, the fee varies as location (rental and standard of living etc).

yamaha is great for foundations and get some fundamental but its good for musician to get out of the "structured" leanring.

yamaha student here for 6 yrs scholarship yamaha for 3 yrs. learn the basic

i have a question, i'm learning acoustic guitar and my instructor left and now i have a new one but he teaches classical guitar and he plans on teaching the classical way of playing on my acoustic so that i dont just strum all the time. is this ok?

Classical piano( Grade 8) rm180 1 hour
Yamaha something something course( Donno grd 5 was it??) rm180 1 hour(group)
Violin grade 4=( rm90 30 minute
Classical guitar( stopped many years) forgotten the fees

When you say RM180 1 hour... You mean RM180 per hour? So you attend 4 classes per month = RM180 * 4 = RM 720?

Or you mean RM180 for 1 month... 1 month 4 classes...

for Yamaha, they got course structure/syllabus to follow i guess..

for me I went for a guitar school in klang.. they use Trinity wan..

the teacher is very flexible with me after my grade 5 ....

then he tell me dun waste time with 6 or 7 ... straight give me diploma pieces to play.. those carcassi pieces... then he ask me join guitar competition too. so it's like... i pay grade 5 fees to the school but actually learning diploma pieces..

anyway,its kinda cheap in my place cause my place is not a big city but just a town =D

And regarding teachers, ask around ur friends who study there, they shuld know whose the head teacher and passionate teahcer/
I've been in my music school long enuf to tell u who passionate in teacher, who's good in teacher, and whose not.

But dont just ask 1, ask a few of them.

Getting a good teacher is important, as passion dies down, the teacher is important to motivate u back on track.
if u get a lousy teacher, heck, u wont last 6months as the class will be damn boring cause of the undedicated teacher.

Normally when will Yamaha do their promotion for their music instrument ar?

normally...no idea.
but they just did one about 2 months ago at the KJ HQ.
