@ah_khoo,
M4N68T-M doesn't support core unlocking, but M4N68T-M V2 does, as kunta mentioned wink.gif

@kunta,
yes just bought 2nd hand from a member here, will receive the processor tomorrow. guess i'll just give it a try then smile.gif

finally got my athlon x3 425 up and running thumbup.gif
It's able to unlock to Phenom II x4 B25, detected in bios, and able to POST. However, when entered windows, it will cause my whole system to go haywire. All sorts of hardware/software error will appear. Tried disabling the 4th core, but still the same. Guess it's a bad 4th core sad.gif

I was thinking of increasing the CPU voltage, but not so sure how much should I increase. I read some articles that mentioned if unable to use the 4th core, the L3 cache can still be unlocked, but in the BIOS it's just written N/A.

aiks, is there any way to see what batch using software, without taking out the proc?
forgot to check it out sweat.gif

but since mine doesnt have L3 cache, guess it's a propus core. can i try increasing the vcore to make it stable?

anyways, here's a screenie of my proc smile.gif

ooopps, haha what i meant was without taking out the HSF tongue.gif

yes, disabled but still not stable. what is a safe range for the vcore?
btw is the current vcore alright? actually it's my first time dealing with vcore for amd procs, usually i see the vcore for my E8400 is about 1.25V i think..

QUOTE(kuntawakaw @ Feb 2 2011, 06:00 PM)
depends on ur mobo and ur cooler..

well.. i dont have any exp with this board..but since this is an entry level, make 1.45v max..

can u pls do me a favor? unlock it (the acc and special blabla) and lock all except core 1..see stable or not..just to check/prove something
*
ok, will experiment with 1.45v wink.gif
about the core 1, according to the manual and BIOS it can't be disabled. only from core 2 to 4.

@kunta,

i've tried as you have asked, all cores disabled except for core 1. able to successfully unlock, and runs perfectly fine in windows.

what can you prove from this? smile.gif

it's funny when i compare the vcore when it's Phenom II X4 B25 and when it's Athlon II X3 425. Quite a big difference blink.gif
and still no L3 cache sad.gif

Edit: according to this validation here, this guy's proc doesnt have L3 either hmm.gif

i see...so far quite stable when playing games, slightly high temps. around 50C.

for now vcore i leave it to auto, so it's same as in the screenshot.

so what you mean is that the unlocking is considered fail, so it's still an athlon II x3, just that the bios detected wrongly and the name change to phenom, and there's no extra performance that i gained. correct? smile.gif
