Hi,

i'm using Athlon II X3 440
recently i've managed to get into windows with 4 cores
no L3 though

however, if running on 4 cores, i noticed the speed is constantly at 3GHz...won't go down to 800MHz during idle
in device manager, windows recognized only 3 B40 and 1 unknown device under processor tab
are both of these conditions normal?

also, using Biostar A770E3 mobo. this mobo supports 125W proc only. the unlocked B40 shows that the max TDP is 126W
can my mobo support this...safely?

Thanks
Hiwatari

I do believe its normal yo. For idle thing, u have to enable the C&Q function in bios. Hope this help you.

C&Q function enabled. only changed the ACC feature

normal and unlocked athlon ii got none l3 cache. in some reason my phenom 720 also no speed drop although set CnQ to auto. no prob i set CnQ disable to avoid some drop in performance.

try do some multicore task and see the result. play gta4, everest benchmark, and even win7 wei rating for proc also can see diff if all 4 core unlocked.

no prob. max tdp is inaccurate. as long its not overload mobo power phase

but other's screen shot shows lower speed at idle...that's y i wonder y mine stays at full speed

i dunno how much diff between 3 & 4 cores. neway disabled the 4th core cos the noise from the fan is bothering me
might enable it back once i got good aftermarket cooler

hello. i wanted to ask where can i find guides to unlock AMD Athlon II x3 440 codenamed Rana's 4th core? thanks.

hey hey...same proc icon_rolleyes.gif
if ur mobo support core unlocking, i believe enabling ACC function is all it takes providing ur proc is unlock-able
good luck trying
