i finally manage to flash my pohd using 2388 firmware and able to get the trendnet wireless dongle working but limited to 2.5 mbps speed to and from...transfering file 8gb took 1 hour darn...

i rather open the internal HDD and slot it in to my removable HDD drive in my desktop...a bit hassle but i can copy 1.5 TB in 4 hours only ! eheh coz sata to sata if use usb maybe took twice the time

Walau u using a 300Mbps dongle only can get 2.5MBps ?????
*
yes if u read thru in playonhd forum the highest it can go currently around 7mbps....this is due to some glitch in the realtek chip i heard...aswell as the firmware...

but 2.5 mbps is good enough for wireless streaming off my server....except 1080p sometimes got lagging but 720p is fine....

Got this AC Ryan last week & 2 days ago installed a new 1TB HDD..Updated to the latest beta R2891, upgrade the system extension by installing the 3 bittorrent/Samba/uncgi/

problem faced right now...

1) I dunno how to check the actual IP address (Anyone can help?) Their forum & from google saying I can find it by going to setup.Network..nothing mention on where to find the IP address!!

2) I copy one my torrent file to the main directory of the HDD & after clicking on it..it appeared to be unsuppoted file..haiz..

Thus wth this 2 issue I really dunno how to use the NAS function of this thingy...too complicated to me..Only can use it as media player  sad.gif  cry.gif
*
you can check the IP from the setup menu under network it even show you the wired or wireless signal strength. btw latest firmware 2891 is not stable pls revert back to 2388. i myself upgraded to 2389 and it freeze couple of movies whereas in 2388 i dont face such problem. so i downgrade back to 2388

my 2 cents: i learn from my previous lesson

when upgrading or downgrading pls disconnect or remove internal HDD. coz mine last time have problem but if i remove i have no issue. so does the HDD no issue being detected (pls take note that the HDD is formated in old 1402 firmware) but still working fine in new sdk2 firmware.

If any of happen to be ask for formatted even though the HDD already being formatted and have movie inside, PLS DO NOT FORMAT, instead unplug the HDD and plug it in via USB Dock (external) or in your Desktop PC and use Checkdisk to repair any error.

after that you can plug in the HDD back to POHD but pls test all the movie coz maybe few are corrupted already. hope this helps, theres also tutorial in how to section at

http://www.acryan.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=41,

Also from my experience, NEVER EVER install BETA firmware as is not stable not normally contains a lot of bugs !! wait for Official Firmware release.

yes but i rather be safe then sorry coz i already kena once ! right now whenever i try to play around with new beta firmware this is what i do but normally under beta firmware i never plug in the internal HDD.

just use external HDD to play around with the new feature. normally will play around with setting, movie test, wireless connection, flac (mp3) and picture

internal HDD will be plug in in official firmware only. again this is based on my personal experience. for me this product is good the only drawback is the HD sound which they said still developing (maybe not happen due to realtek chip issue) and the slowness of the wireless connection.

as i already have DTS HD, True HD, Dolby HD ready AVR but cant utilize them (sold my BD player also hehe). If still cannot then i might pass this pohd for my kids then i'm gunna buy player that support HD audio.

coz my kids conquer this pohd watching animation cartoon like at least 4 hours a day (during recent school holiday they play like 10 hours plus...

the wifi dongle is useless lah....doesnt matter if its made by acryan or other brand the max it can go around 5mbps only....

dont believe me? go surf acryan playonhd forum. i think the acryan engineer did some test tested and most he can get around 4.5mbps only

so thats why i go for trendnet due to cheaper price which i got for RM70 only ! plus its confirm working in 2388 firmware. why settle for higher price when u can save money and buy new HDD hehehe.....

my max is 2.5mbps to and from. i'm using my WRT54GL set to MIX coz i got some stuff running on G and some running on B mode.....(old lappy, PDA)

btw so far i never got disconnected.....i can even stream 1080p without stuttering (only problem arise when microwave is turn on !).

already tested when playing few 1080p director cut or ultimate cut movie thats 3 hours long plus ! also i use wireless to test my movie if its "working/preview" or not in pohd.

maybe becoz the distance is around 5 meter only !

i have follow exactly as per instruction in pohd forum. set router to B or G and use WPA2 but still my max is 2.5mbps. then i decide to use mix coz no differences.

dont ask me why, instead u should ask in pohd forum not here. i know the trendnet USB dongle is working fine coz when i use in my office i can get 100mbps speed internal network ! also i know my router is fine coz when i connect using office lappy at home i can get full 54mbps speed.

i guess its the firmware or chipset limitation.
