For information about CFP - Certified Financial Planning programme offered in Malaysia, check up these two web sites:

www.kmdc.com.my - the largest education provider of CFP in Malaysia

www.fpam.org.my - the Financial Planning Association in Malaysia.

CFP is a professional certification course. A few universities do grant exemptions however you need to check with your choice of universities.

I am quite confused about the admission of this CFP.
Does the applicant shall have a Bachelor's Degree of any fields from local universities?
From: http://www.kmdc.com.my/html/programmes/prog_04cfp.html
Also, about the fees structure, it is amounted to RM7k.There are 6 modules altogether and each module roughy cost around 1k plus. so may i know, if let say one takes two modules and unable to finish the other 4, will he be given the certification? Or he or she shall completed all the 6 modules then only be given the CFA qualification?

when u finished ur CFP, u get CFP cetification lah. why CFA?

only in msia, u can enrol into CFP programme without a degree. at least SPM 5 credits or 3 credits (not sure coz i used my diploma)

u need to take module 1 first before u are allowed to take modules 2-5.

once u finished mods 1-5 baru can do module 6.

u can make EPF withdrawals from Account 2 to pay fees. refer to ur education provider on how to do this. they will help u with the procedure.

to be a CFP practitioner, u need to finish all SIX (6) modules and have at least 3yrs work experience in the financial industry to be able to use the CFP trademark behind ur name.

of coz u won't be certified if u only managed to finish two modules when the requirement is ALL SIX modules. (unless u are one of those who are exempted from taking all modules like ACCA holder, etc)

it's illegal to call urself a "financial planner" or use the trademark if u r not certified. can get fined or go to jail.

does it mean for those who have taken the full modules of CFP, are they bound or bond to certain financial working settings in order to complete the neccessary 3 years of working experiences in order to be certified as Financial planner?

u can do ur necessary relevant finance industry work experience of 3yrs in concurrence of ur CFP modules. meaning, u can take CFP at the same time u r fulfilling the min 3yrs of work experience requirement.

but in order to be CFP certified, u need to show 3yrs relevant work experience first b4 u can be called a CFP and use the CFP trademark.

ur employer need to write a letter saying u have worked with them for 3yrs (from which date to which date) , for example, to show FPAM that u have fulfilled the requirement of 3yrs relevant work exp in order for them to give u the CFP certification.

u can also do it AFTER u finished ur 6 modules but u cant not use CFP trademark after ur name or tell ppl u r a "financial planner"** until u have finished ur 3yrs work exp and got the CFP certificate from FPAM.

**heavy fine and jail time applies if u do so

IF you are thinking of taking CFP - move fast!!! The entry requirement for CFP will be raised to a bachelor degree from 2014 onwards. Right now, they still accept SP or equivalent.

Contact FPAM -Financial Planning Association fo Malaysia, 03 -7954 9500, or CFP education provider, KMDC - KDU Management Development Centre 03-7953 6969.

Last intake in this year, i heard is October, though they may add classes in the month of November or December this year as many are rushing in to register before they close the door to non degree holders.
