i've asked other sony center about their pricing before and so far non gave me any discount.

its up to them to give discount or not... but SonyStyle definitely won't... and i think Tan Electronics dont give any discount as well...

There is 1 Sony Centre in Midvalley, they give discounts.. but the one in The Garden, doesnt.

bro, he used f5.6 at 300mm for that shot... so basically i think he just focused at the bird, the background is far enough to be blurred out in that way...  laugh.gif

technically, i think  laugh.gif , the shallower the depth of field, the more bokeh (blurry defocused areas) you get...

and to achieve this shallow depth of field, is by using the lowest f number possible.... ok that's my noob explanation.  whistling.gif

u guys should attend the Alpha classes... http://mysony.sony.com.my

can learn the basics... smile.gif

luvvivi: your question has been answered by millenia. hehehe... not much I could tell you already. since I'm using the kitlens SAL75300 f4.5-5.6, at the longest distance, which is 300mm, the lens's widest aperture for that distance is f5.6 which in change, causes the background to look blurred. was wondering, since with 300mm at f5.6 already produces that kind of bokeh, Imagine what the SAL300f28G can do... dayummmmmm....  shocking.gif  shocking.gif

dont IMAGINE... just buy... RM20K+ hehehe....

Anyone expert here on digital portraits?

I need to take some kindergarten graduates pictures... problem is, i do not have backdrops nor studio lighting... so my idea is to use WHITE background (using white cloth) and later cut off in photoshop and add artificial digital background...

just to know if the WHITE backdrop will be suitable or different color (to make it easier to cut in photoshop)

MemorableStudios: Try to find the kindergarten logo on a wall somewhere and use that. Well I remember mine being that lah.

The real challenge is getting the kid to look at you. Kids are restless! Your crowd shot will be a nightmare so fire off a few burst shots.
*
thanks for the reminder on the kids being restless smile.gif, almost forgot about that factor.....

but what color backgrounds are the best to be used, to make it easier to cut off in Photoshop.. ?

what kind of bg u r trying to blend in during PP ??i would suggest ur backdrop to be similar color to the background u gonna use later...even if there is some small mistake..it wont be noticed easily....and try to use backdrop that has very diff color from the kids uniform/hair...if everything same color..u'd have a hard time later on..

thanks achew...

With raw you have the freedom to tweak after taking pics such as wb brightness sharpness etc.
*
anyway, JPEG compression really suk on the Alpha cameras, pictures too soft.. not too sure about A700/900 though..

if you want it to look sharper, just increase the in-camera sharpness
nowadays i prefer working with RAW so that i can retain the highest detail (not sharpness) possible
*
thats what i mean, the JPEG compression on A100-A350 is too soft, lost some details.. sad.gif

even I shoot in RAW.. 1200 pics on A350 CF-16GB Extreme III
