for me, i only use RAW when I dont tweak the white balance during shooting and i wana remove noise during PP. other than that, its pretty useless to me~

Hahaha i dono. They claim its sharper and produces nicer photos. (: To be honest. I never shot in RAW before? So what? =p

but the raw file IS from the same camera you adjusted the creative setting already.

hmmm... honestly, they work pretty much the same... same range too... i wonder what could be the difference.... eh but plato looks more stylo.... and it works as a wired remote too

yeap... RAW... better... sharper... can apply creative settings later... can play with exposure settings (less artifacts compared to jpegs)... more details...
the jpeg compression on alphas currently suck... compared to canons or nikons..

Chiggy previously you use pana lumix right? or someone else.

Nikon D40...many years old model, 3 AF point, no build in motor thus some lens cannot be use (should say manual only), no Kelvin White Balance, u need VR lens to get have stability system...it only good for its name "Nikon"

Sony A200...Last years model, 9 AF point, Kelvin WB, wireless flash with any SONY flash, more ergonomic design, build in Super Steady Shoot, get stability even using M42 lens or old minolta lens.

if possible, get the older a200 set. Ergonomics wise, the a200 is much better to hold and easier to use. You have dedicated buttons for certain functions and you can change the AF point easily on a200. Sometimes, shrinking stuff doesn't really work out, especially if you can't shrink your hands. If you can't use the camera comfortably, then there's no point at all as you'll tend not to use it after purchase.

A200 remaining stocks should be quite cheap now. Do hurry though as once they're out of stock, they are gone.

Oh yea, a200 uses cf card while a230 uses sd..
Somehow, i prefer a cf card to SD. Not so easy to get lost and feels more solid.
