Hello. Would love to hear your thoughts on my current setup. i am looking at my HT setup and am thinking to change my amp due to the lack of video inputs (the connections in my HT is driving me nuts. so many wires and too messy biggrin.gif

My current setup is a modest budget system. Marantz SR4400, upscale LG dvd, HTPC, PS3 & x-box360, entry wharfedale front & sub & center with two rear speakers in my living room. they are all currently connected direct to my lcd tv and optically to the amp. I am thinking of getting the new AV amp so that all my components are connected via HDMI (except the PC) and then a clean line to the lcd. HDMI upscaling is impt and HD audio is for future proof.

I have kinda narrow down my choice to the onkyo tx-rs507 or yamaha rx-v565. will this actually be worth the change or shall i go for other brand or move higher up? i do not want to spend a lot on my HT system, just something that is decent. my budget is preferably something below rm2k. the system will cater mainly for movies, games and some music. i have not gone into blu-ray movies for now so HD sound is more for the future as it is a pain to change amps etc.

what are the prices like for the onkyo tx-rs507 and yamaha rx-v565 and any recommended shops that give the best prices and can try out? i am in KL/PJ area.

thank you in advance smile.gif

You might also want to check out the Denon 1909. I saw it in HiFi shop in One Utama for RM1900. I believe that shd be cheaper than the Onkyo and it decodes all hi def formats as well and has 3 HDMI inputs and it has Audyssey Multi EQ

You will never go wrong with Denon. The amp is not hot on surface but the sound produced will be super-hot. Good luck.

Denon avr is the least hot as compared to Onkyo, Marantz & Yamaha, so does it also means that it consumes less power than other three brands' avr? hmm.gif

Don't get me wrong. I own a Onkyo 876 and love it, but for the price and the specs, the 1909 seems to fit your needs.

The power ratings might be the same but it could be less/more hot. This is not an indication of the power consumption. Amps are desiged differently some run hot some run cold.

To me, Denon 1909 is very well-recommended and a good entry level amp for lossless audio. Once you plug this babe in, you will be thrilled by its clean presentation.

hmm i will check out the place at 1U. so far i check the onkyo 507 prices at cmy & harvey and cmy is cheaper by rm500 tongue.gif . for denon 1909 got quoted 2.2k though. is the denon worth the extra 500 over the onkyo?

harvey also quoted yamaha v465 way too much.

Denon vs Marantz I would say minimal comparison. Marantz should lean towards music, so more musical if you would like to put it but maybe slightly on safer side when comes to action movies. BTW, both brands are under the same Company...........

any thoughts about the yamaha rx-v565. i have also somehow narrowed my choices to these 2. at a lost now. CMY quoted me 18xx for the onkyo 507. havent checked the price for the yamaha yet. i do prefer the yamaha though, as it provides analog upscalling.

any sifus can help? also, where can find yamahas AV?
