isn't rennet needed for curdling the milk to obtain whey? then how can there be no animal products?

im also searching for a halal whey.. horleys is in my first list but the price, aduh sakit laa.. mahal tapi dapat sikit...

if ON's whey is halal and doesn't contain any animal products, for sure im getting it since its cheaper than horleys

i emailed ON and their customer service replied this:

Thank you for choosing Optimum Nutrition to help you create your bigger picture. At this time, none of our products are certified "kosher". However, the rennet used in the production of whey protein is either synthetically and/or fungally derived. There are no animal products or by-products in our Whey Gold Standard save for the whey itself which is derived from cow's milk (dairy).

so since they use synthetically created rennet's and not the ones from animals, im positively confidence its halal to consume.
