Description

A Bon Odori Festival is also celebrated every year at Penang and at the Matsushita Corp Stadium, Shah Alam. This celebration, which is a major attraction for the state of Selangor, is the brain child of the Japanese Expatriate & Immigrant's Society in Malaysia. In comparison to the celebrations in Japan, the festival is celebrated on a much smaller scale in Penang and Selangor (Malaysia). Here, it is less associated with Buddhism and more with Japanese culture. Held mainly to expose locals to a part of Japanese culture, the festival provides the experience of a variety of Japanese food & drinks, art and dance.

Synopsis : The Bon Festival is a Japanese Buddhist custom** which is held annually to honour the deceased spirits of one's ancestors. It is meant to be a joyful celebration, bringing families together, and celebrating rather than mourning the lives of the dearly departed

Things to Take Note

● Strictly no smoking except for designated areas.
● No high-heels allowed in the dancing field.
● Guests are advised to car pool to the stadium due to limited car parks.
● NO COSPLAYING. Respect the Japanese culture and tradition please

They don't look different from Chinese, Korean or any other fair skinned Asian females. The mystic of Japanese girls as cute is overrated. I have seen some of Japanese girls that look like a horse or Bugs Bunny long lost cousin.

Further more, BO is religious celebration of departed ones which I predict some morons here will go there and cosplay.

i might be goin, someone request me to go there. though i dun think i know the way there. n there are some real japanese who stay in penang, expect em to be there.

ah kinda remind me of the day where japanese grade schooler made a school visit trip on the company i temp work with. im not into grade school kid, but the sensei is fine too. im shock 1 of my manager speak fluent jap.

I last went to the Penang a couple of years back, and IMO, it was quite boring.
The food and items there were quite pricey. The only thing I could muster myself to buy was one of those Japanese masks.

I must say though, the fireworks at the end of the night is spectacular! It's a sight to behold.

He's like some old ancient Jap dude, actually 2 dudes to be exact, that created some kinda firework display in ancient Japan...

So, in honour of his work, everytime when Japs hav fireworks and stuff, they'll yell this two phrases :

" Tamaya~~ Kagaya~~"

But i rarely heard of this though... Correct me if i'm wrong in terms of history facts
