1. yes ucan use wifi for almost everything in Jet.
2. about the Route66, u installed the Route66 Sync first. upon completion, restart your pc ( we dun want interruption from running background). then connect your Jet via 'mass storage'. then download everything that free as the interface will be open.

and a good news for Jet users who waiting for Route66 gps navigation. i email the roue66 support center about the drive to and walk to feature. then they reply and asking my IMEI. i gave it to them, and then they reply to me giving the instructions on how to download the features. but it's not free. u need to pay though. here is the steps from my email
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

" Thanks for your information.

@danni_boy
i'm not yet buy the license since i'm not in the need to use gps. but if i really need it for traveling someplace i'm not familiar with, i would definitely buy 'em. anyway, the fees are 1.79EUR for 1 day, 9.99EUR for 1 month and 49.99EUR for 12 months.

@dauf87
yes, if u surf through Route66 Sync, the feature were not available. i can confirm that. but remember i emailed their support center and they asked for my Jet IMEI. i dunno why and somehow, that feature suddenly appear u. in fact, i already downloaded the features using Route66 in Jet (not through PC Route66 Sync), but it is locked and cannot be used since i did not pay yet.

So, 3rd party software is created by samsung themselves?
That's very limited.

How on earth this phone is better than smartphone then?  hmm.gif
*
actually, there are 3rd party software developer.
currently the samsung appstore support omnia only.
according to news, other models including Jet will be covered
within December 2009.

Answer from Samsung Apps Store. may you judge yourself. sad.gif

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
my question;

Hello all,

sorry for this uncategorizes enquiries,

i'm just wondering when will this appstore support Samsung Jet S8000?
the lame Jet issues at internet will be solved if this store
cover applications and widgets for Samsung Jet.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

the answer;

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Samsung Application Store. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

Unfortunately you can't use Samsung Application Store to download applications for your Samsung Jet phone. Samsung Application Store supports only Windows and Symbian operating systems. The Samsung Jet has its own operating system. That is the reason why your phone will not be supported on Application Store.

Nevertheless, you can find and download contents for your Samsung Jet mobile phone. Please, check available content for your phone on the website www.samsungmobile.co.uk or on your phone : wap.samsungmobile.co.uk

If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to contact us or you also may want to check out our answers to Frequently Asked Questions, which can be found at the Support menu of Application Store.

Thank you for using our services. Your satisfaction is very important for us.

Xavier Bohers.

Customer Service Representative

Samsung Application Store.

where u bought for rm1500? what's included in the package?
i think u can forget about gps software for now. even if u find it, there is no malaysian map for it. the reason i'm considering this phone is because of reasonable price, not too big, & good still/video cam
*
actually there are Malaysian map for route66 software.
the gps is totally working. but for voice navigation u need to pay.
maps are free.
please read previous posts.

this thread was really active when the phone come on from
for the market end user, around June 2009.

To proper test the Jet functionality, simple press *#0*#. sensors, vga cam, 5MP cam, touch sensitivity, etc available for testing. you can even lite on the mega flash of the camera. i used it frequently as a torchlight.

Regarding the DXII2 asian firmware, it is rumoured to be as same as DXIG2, not close to the extremely new XEII2. but, again we'll lose Asian language support, and time zone +8 will be located to somewhere Russia, not usual Beijing/Kuala Lumpur/Singapore.

Dictionary, u can simply find on getjar.com as it do support java application on Jet.

Update firmware via NPS is highly not recommended as NPS is not yet stable an under Beta test. If u eager for firms, just flash and make sure to follow the instructions in DarkForest forum.

additional info, darkforest is built by those who are working with Samsung Mobile and all info provides by them i.e. forum moderator as well as senior forumers are correct.

For my Jet, flashing chronologies:
S8003DXIF8 (original) > S8000XEIG1 > S8003DXIG2 > S8000XEIG2 > S8000XEII2.
i got early on July and quite pricey. but i manage to get 16GB SDCard, and some many freebies.
I even surf online to buy flipcase for my Jet at RM15 only. i tried to find the flipcase everywhere, but can't find. last option ebay..
