nope.. no lagging problem with the music player on XEII2. the horizontal mode and coverflow is ok.


1) i think.. all phone manufacturers don't like ppl flashing their own phones because it voids the warranty. it's best to flash with the service center.

2) no excessive heat when watching vids for a long time. not always true..

3) the pouch, yes, it covers the whole phone except the speaker at the back and the top part. the trick is to pinch the bottom end of the pouch to make the phone come out for quick access to see who's calling. but those who prefer to see who's calling right away won't like the pouch.. but i personally like it as it protects the phone nicely and hides it from evil prying eyes.

4) i have been using the Jet for 1 month+ and no hardware issues at all up til now. Dropped the phone only once.

5) i don't think it's fair to say samsung phone dies after 1 year++. as far as i know, samsung basic phones are really good and they last for quite some time (my dad has been using his Samsung flip phone for almost 5 years). if u take good care of it, i believe any mobile phone can last longer than expected. however, if there is something wrong with ur phone, make sure u have the warranty. (the least for Samsung phone is 1 year warranty)

6) i agree that the support from Samsung for Jet is lacking, but about the widgets- like dauf87 said, it is not an iphone or a symbian or a windows mobile phone.. don't expect to add apps as you like! Samsung Jet is run on Touchwiz 2.0, which also means widgets will come along as Samsung updates the Touchwiz.

I agree with the credibility of Samsung hardwares as said by dauf87.

i haven't tried, but i think u shud edit the file's ID3 tag to have the same artist name, same album and same cover art. best if u manage ur mp3s with iTunes because you can just edit one whole album to have the same cover. that's what i did for my iPods and MAYBE, i think it's the same with the phone.


from what i know the Gmail java program is not a widget, therefore u cant make it appear under the widgets. unfortunately we can't make Java programs to appear in the widgets menu. not yet, to say the least. and i have problem setting IMAP too!!


they only way to find out abt it to visit the service center.. i only read it somewhere in the DF forums, but no actual link to the firmware is being found. hence i cannot clarify if DXII2 is the same as XEII2 but i highly doubt that it will.. sorry!

whatever instruction posted by DarkForest is correct. I have once failed to flash my phone, it failed mid way because it was my fault hehe. doesn't matter what happen, if flashing is not successful, just restart your computer (leave the phone alone). after restart, re-do the steps. just put the phone back on bootload by pressing the vol+camera+power on button again.

for the factory FS, the _OXE contains English widgets. _RU contains Russian widgets. use OXE.

be careful at flashing! but i'm sure it's not that hard..

mine doesn't auto reset.. got a longgg list of recent contacts still there. i'm on the XEII2 firmware.

flashing the phone yourself will take less than 15 minutes..

btw if you haven't noticed, there's a new HK firmware that has chinese support. it is slightly upgraded from DXIG2 which many of you who bought the phone the last 2-3 months might have outta the box. you can find the discussion here. there's a post on the comparison!

can u open the links? i received links instead of seeing any pics bcos last time my MMS settings was not properly set up (i'm on Mxs). it's not supposed to give u only links. check ur MMS settings, send an MMS to urself and see what happens. if it still give u links, go bug ppl at the service center.. they are most likely to help u out!

there is no fix to that.. i'm having the same problem. but it's pretty good because i don't like my phone suddenly jumps on me with my ringtone.. my ringtone is kinda . lol

the newest in Asia is DXII2. it has no significant difference to DXIG2.

for samsung old models it's eight 0's.. [00000000]
but for Jet there is no default password. last time, my phone locked itself and i couldn't open the phone entirely. probably a glitch in the flash because it is not normal for the phones to lock itself. ppl at darkforest said it's probably network locked, but i checked- no locks whatsoever. just a glitch!

if u still can't solve the problem, just bring it to samsung service center.. u have the right!

this is what Newton Ring looks like. I bought a Nintendo DS Lite a while ago and it has that.. but after a while it goes away, especially if I keep my DS in air-conditioned room. it's really puzzling at first.. but i didnt mind because it's only visible at some angle. It is a known issue mostly with electronics stuff. If it bothers you, just go back to Samsung and make them exchange the lcd panel for you..

I bought my Samsung Jet in October (it's a July batch, i think) and I do not have that.. no defects so far..
can't say it's perfect, but i think other stuff can be fixed with software update.

@chocobo : why dont you just transfer the .jar into ur memory card? then install it from inside the phone..

with the pre-installed Asian firmware (i presume you're going to buy an Asian model), you can't run free GPS software. but i think the exact answer is just.. you simply CANNOT if you want the gps for free.
