Hey guys,

I just came back from Octagon's office to pick up my medal. Chatted with a staff regarding the marathon. Dug some insider's information wink.gif

All I can reveal are these - they're grossly understaffed (they hv less than 10 staff in Msia), they outsourced most of the event (to DBKL, FTAAA/MAU, vendors etc), put too much trust on said parties to deliver their promises (we all know how it's like in Msia tongue.gif) and most prolly wont change the marathon route in the future.
*
Scary. Must make it a point to go Singa Mara la like this. Dapat one marathon a year cukup lah.

To be fair, Sing Mara started sh**ty too. But it's probably one of the most accessible, newbie-friendly marathon now. I'm contemplating to go for half or full this year.

Sh**ty becomes better then ok la. If ok becomes bad, that one we can't accept.

Korang nak jadik macam Singaporean la pulak biggrin.gif Esok lusa pun boleh register jugak apa hehe..

@Lemmings
I'm a slow runner (read walker). So, I don't mind bringing stuff with me. More of I have to - in case of emergency. Handphone is on my arm, car key is in my shorts pocket. In the SCKLM, I took so long to finish, my keychain became rusty! LOL

BIM is more costly than SCSM right? Gian nak lari full la. Despite being a turtle, I don't mind doing it again. After all, I'm not gonna do SCKLM 2010

Need to figure that out before deciding.

@Syd

hey guys.. sorry noob question..

is there anything I can use to time myself during runs?

something cheap and light..

i don't want to use watches because its heavy and i don't want to sweat all over it..

anything?
*
I am not a serious runner but I do not think sports watches are heavy. On a grown up's hand, it is sometime negligible. You don't even notice it is there. More so if your muscles are used to it being there during runs.

psst: try running with a 1.5ltr bottle. THAT is heavy laugh.gif

Have anyone heard of the Vibram Five Fingers? It have been getting raves for mimicking barefooted running and it have been said to improve your running experience.

I'm looking to organise a bulk purchase for it as I'm interested in owning a pair just to experience it, anyone else would be in for this?

I've looked at the site. I wonder if you can use it for marathon. Big Walk is fine. I would like to try. But I wonder if the sizing is same like shoes

Hey guys

Quick question. How do you guys feel abt online run registration. Register online, pay online, pay around rm10 extra for courier service for vest, bib, reporting card.

Just show up on running day and have a good time.
*
Personally, I agree with dmm. Picking the stuff is part of the enjoyment to me (and my photo collection). But for outstation cases, which I never experience, maybe it would be good to have the courier service. Anyways I'm all for online registration and payment.

Can you later share the transportation and accommodation ideas. It is my first time and I'm taking notes here and there on the logistics to suit my budget.

Guys,

Currently when running, I'm feeling pain on the inner side of my left foot. Below the ankle. Kinda like sprain feeling but the pain is felt when I'm lifting the foot off the ground.

user posted image

If based on this graph, it is at the area of Deltoid ligament and Tibialis Posterior Tendon but more to the latter. What is causing the pain? What can I do to relieve it? What shall I do to prevent it from happening again?

hey hanjo,

none of us here are doctors sad.gif it may be best to seek professional advice frm a certified profesional..
but judging from ur pain and where it is.. a guess would be ur shoes dun hv enuff ankle support?

when did it start happening? were u doing anything out of the ordinary?
were u trying a diff running style? happens maybe say when oni running uphill or dwnhill?
*
I do not remember a specific occurrence when it happened. It is kind of built up bit by bit. Then only I'm feeling the pain. I'm feeling it since SCKLM. I can feel after a certain time. If running, I feel it like after 3km. Even walking for a long time can give me the pain too.

Indeed he is biggrin.gif

Less than 10 mins after qualifying time. No medal is expected but no water, no 100 plus or milo is disheartening. I guess I'm used to this 'anak angkat' feeling after SCKLM. Meh.

I feel for you Syd biggrin.gif

I want to ask this from you guys (those that are not the winner type). Have you been to those races or take part in categories that are without timing chip? Normally the small scale race and also the short distance (10km). If you do, I'm sure you know how the finishing line is right? Full of people.

My question is, when do you stop your time? It is a long queue till the finishing line. Do you wait till you really cross the line? which will definitely take longer time. Or do you stop the time as you reach at the back of the queue? which is technically not the finishing line yet. In my opinion, both do not give you the real time. Then, how?
