I didn't bother to check my heart rate like u stated there b/c I don't have any equipments.....I just check them with the distance and route that I use.
If I use the 2:3 ratio, I can only last about 3-4 km. (higher bpm)
If I use the 1:2 ratio, I'll last about 5 km. (lower bpm)

No offence chinleong, but I think you'd have a better chance if u lower the price a little bit. Because occasionally, in certain road races here in KL, polar opens up booths and they offer discounts. 10-20% discounts.
Which translates to ~RM200 on ur model right there. I remember because the promoter wanted to push a model that has gps to me for 20% if i'm not mistaken but i didn't have money.

Otherwise, yeah ebay should be the best place...good luck.

Sports Injury!

I have this slight pain on my right foot near the toes. It's been there for almost a week. I feel the pain every time i push off with my right foot. I believe it's just muscle pain because if I press on it hard, it hurts. If I just rub around the area, there's no pain. My question is, should I use ice or heat???

I bought this ice/heat pack at a local pharmacy. The pharmacist said to use heat. But a runner friend of mine who has been in and out of sports injuries asked me to use cold.

I've collected my vest just now. XXXL !!! The vest is a bit tight & I had no choice but to take that size. Normally I'd use L or XL. Quick-sport had a booth there selling things like compression stuffs, socks, Newton shoes, fuel belts. I bought the strap for race bib.. RM15 only.. Now.. on to the race...  flex.gif

Owh really?!!
They have compression stuff? Do they have 2XU apparels, tenno??? I'm looking for any brand of anti-blister socks under RM 35 if they have.

It's 2:07 am on my pc clock! I've been twisting and turning for 2 hours and I still can't sleep. Le sigh. Still feeling the post-energizer muscle pain and strain. So I figured that I'll just write my Energizer Race report to share with you all and HOPEFULLY after that, I'll be able to doze off.

Here goes :
chip time : 2:29:13.08;
gun time : 2:36:54.06
position : 327

On the day of the race, I only made up my mind to participate 2 hours before my half marathon starts. Why? Well, first of all I haven't been running for a week b/c I was resting my injured right foot. Heck, I even wanted to sell the bib a week before but then I remembered that I dragged a friend along in this race and I can't abandon her, and on top of that, this is supposed to be my maiden half marathon attempt...the heck with insufficient training, the heck with hot weather...I'm running!
It was blood and guts for me that night!

I left home at 7pm from Ampang area. Arrived there freaking late. Parked my car about 100 m from the starting line and officially started my race at 8:07 pm. No time for stretching for me.....which later proved to be a bad idea. I ran at a slow, comfortable pace for the first 2 kilometers until it happened. I felt some discomfort between my toes on my left foot. "It's the damned blisters again...always happens," I thought to myself. Like come on! It's only 2 km. I have 19 km to go for God's sake! I managed to ignore it...only lasted 1 km though. I had to stop and do something. Well, I did. I took off the socks on my left foot only. It felt better but the blisters were always there. I managed to fight it off until the 13 km mark. I can't hold on much longer with the pain. I stopped at a water station and asked the kind medic to put two band-aids on those 2 toes. He had to cut off the blisters first which was not that painful, much to my surprise.

I felt much, much better but I knew that it's not gonna last. It will still rub against the inside of the shoe. It did. The band-aid peeled off. It made the blisters worse actually. This happened at the 15 km mark. 6 km to go! Throughout those 15 km, I didn't bother to check the time, b/c I know my timing was gonna be terrible from the get-go. Part of me really, really wanted to walk to the finish line from then onwards, but my better half got hold of my senses and I realized if I was to walk 6 km, I'd reach the finish line close to midnight! Heck no! So what did I do??? I ran barefooted! (I gloved the shoes on my hands lol) To tell you the truth, I have no freakin' idea how someone out there can even consider running barefoot for a full-marathon.....it's freakin painful!!! And they're saying that's the way to go? Shisshh!
Running barefoot for the first time in a race, it was far from pleasant I can tell you that. First of all, I can't run at my usual pace and style anymore b/c I run using the POSE technique. I can't do that barefoot which is an irony really. They preach to us that barefoot running promotes oneself to run POSE technique as they say that is the natural form of running and the most efficient. I do believe that POSE technique is the most efficient but running barefoot on tarmac using the technique means that you land with less surface area = more pressure = more pain!!! So that being said, I ran landing on the heels, barefooted onwards. My pace was about 6km/hr.....it gets slower and slower. I had to find a way to lessen the pain while still going on. I did. I utilized the white paint at the edge of the road. I landed on the white paint which helped me go on for 3 km or so. But my test grew greater after that. I ran through a truck spraying water, and everytime I stop at a water station, the surface near it are all wet. Add that to barefoot running...blisters! Yes! I accumulated 6 blisters in 6 different places altogether.

To cut the damn story short, I ended the race with one foot wearing a shoe, and one not (don't ask me why) and short cramp upon reaching the finish line. I had to band-aid my entire feet at the medical station. 3 or 4 people that chatted with me asked me to use petroleum jelly or anti-chafing products.

Lessons :
1. Have sufficient training
2. Stretch before and after runs
3. Come early!
4. Use petroleum jelly or vaselin??? I've never used these guys.....how to use them and when and where to apply?
5. Respect the distance!!!

Yes!!! It worked! My head feels heavier now and I feel super sleepy! Goodnight =)

Just get Injinji toe socks (anti-blister) from me.  For chafing get a bottle of SportShield or BodyGlide from me too.  That will solve your blister and chafing problem  rclxms.gif  You can chk with those using these 2 products.  They said GOODBYE to blister and chafing  rclxm9.gif

How do you apply the BodyGlide and SportShield???
I usually get blisters between the toes on both foot. How long do I have to apply before starting my run?
Which on is better....SportShield or BodyGlide?
