yup his ryu is very solid, his akuma..very good combo.

Well it's Raya and Forums usually have less people..so i decided to write a longer post about Gief.

This is how gief can surprise enemies.

Green hand wiff -->lp SPD
Green hand wiff -->Ex Green Hand
Green hand wiff -->lariat

Green hand wiff -->lp SPD
this is a good starting move, for soft characters, they tend to start the round by pressing backword. This gives you a free spd at the 3rd second of the game.
It also can be  done continuously for 2 times to trick enemies because they think they can spam light jabs to cancel gief's spd.

Green hand wiff -->Ex Green Hand
Ok lets say your opponent suddenly goes berserk because his hp is less and you just can't spd him anymore, using this will punish him if he does the following -

FA, back dash, most normals upon wake up.

So opponents now also scared to do most things except for jump away, only if his timing is right if not here is where you should use your Green hand wiff -->lariat

But watch out for Ex Srk and Ex heatbutts, if their timing is right ( including SRK mashers ) his will punish you back just nice for Ryu's fadc ultra.
so use it to confuse enemies. not all the time.
