Is the mites ady inside the container with it or they come from outside?

thats y.. maybe a lil bit still on the scorps body (till now, all are getiing better, none are visible to the eye, but maybe theres still some left in those tricky areas.. bcoz looking at the bottle cap, although theres no mites visible on the scorp's body, theres still mites drown in the bottle cap)

It could be it died from the molt and the mites start eating it when u found it, not it die from the mites
Juz a theory, did u spray it on the scorp body anw?

before i mist i poke it a bit, to see its still alive or not.. it moves a bit, but very weak..maybe it was very tired trying hard to molt.. but still alive, and no mites yet..

then i wet the tissue.. but after a while, still no progress.. check again, same, weak but alive.. then i decide to mist the body to soften the old exoskeleton.. poke.. same..weak n alive.. just now i check, dead, mites are back..

Added on July 28, 2009, 12:40 amrideon: that could be one possibility too.. but i was afraid to move the molting scorp to another container becoz its never a good idea to disturb a molting scorp, what more to move it..

but after dis, if any of my scorp molting, i think i will take the risk of moving them.. since that the only way

maybe.. but still, dead end.. after dis i try to move them 1st..

but still, even if i move them to clean container, when theres still a lil bit mites left on the old exoskeleton, once they contact with damp sub, they'll breed and lay eggs.. n they breed damn fast!!!!

izzu, sorry for your lost.

how about a change of taste. don;t get all upset. try to find the cause of the mites. lets start with the substrate.

try to use potting soil. not the one you get from your garden. Those packeted branded ones sold in jusco or sumting (can't remember already. been too long already in sarawak).

it would be great if you can get data from the type of substrate that encourage mites to breed and what is not.

i'm trying to compile data here about mites on scorpions but it is very difficult for me because the only mites that i found are the ones on chickens.

rideon, the traps are ready but there is one crucial component missing. male crickets. i can;t find any. lol. have to wait until i can find a male crickets somewhere.

just for fun.

i know. thats why i hate them.

you need a good warm and humid place for them to grow but it also encourages other things to grow as well.

hope the new formula will settle it nicely.

haha, lester.. wait till all ur gravid females pop, then u'll will be happier to wait~ bcoz u'll got ur hands bz with all those delicate scorplings~ LOL

akagi: b4 this i did use substrate (peat moss to be exact) which i bought frm jusco) but i dun think using soil rite now would make mites prob any better bcoz even using tissue (which is easier to monitor and change) its hard to keep the mites away

when this all over, i'll definitely change back using peat moss~

it's ok. i just need info on the substrate.trying to gather data 1 step of a time.

so you were using peat moss before. how was it. never used it as a substrate before.

i'm using saw dust mix with potting soil.

plz update me on the substrate condition.

thanks.
