This afternoon, one of my team members, a person I see several times a week, said something to me. "You look very different," he said while pointing to his chest with his thumbs, "You look fit."

Now my chest was pumped up this afternoon because I went for a swim during lunch hour. But still. This sends me a signal that I'm nearing my goal: that of looking fit. I have no intention to look like a bodybuilder.

I presume most of you have a reason to workout as hard as you do. But what does one do when the goal is met?

Pfhuck, I just remembered I bought a suit one size larger two weeks ago in anticipation of slapping on more beef. I guess I will only stop when I fill that out well.

What do you do when your goal is met? Usually, I up the ante and set a new, more difficult goal. tongue.gif

How about maintaining your 'fit' look while increasing your stamina? Strength? Endurance?

It occurred to me a few weeks ago that I should do something with all this strength I've gained. The only sport I've been formally coached to play is tennis, but I haven't touched a racket in like 5 years. So I went and bought a racket, and came to lowyat sports section to find some tennis partners. But I found out that a colleague who lives in the same resort as I do plays tennis as well. Despite several attempts at a match, we still haven't played (rain, other commitments, etc.)

Yeah, I think this is how I want this to play out. I want to train for strength for a sport, and then be consistent and good at the sport. This sport won't be tennis though, because I have fantastically lousy motor coordination.

Yeah, get myself big enough for the new suit, then get on DiPasquale's Anaerobic Diet till my abs stand out in stark relief. Roar.

Is there really such a thing as "Reaching your goals" in this industry?
I said I wanted to squat 120Kg, and I did. Then I said 140KG. Then I said 180 and I did. And now I want 200. It's never going to end. Even if I reach 300KG, I'll still want more.

This is exactly what I want to avoid. I'm serious about having a 'believable' physique. It's a term I read in a men's magazine about an actor who wanted a better body yet still be 'believable'. It's the Brody guy, the one who played the pianist.

Desvaro: I see you understand suits. I had actually paid for the suit a size smaller. It was an impulse purchase, because I've never found an off-the-rack that even remotely suit me. It looked cool, very fashion-forward, yet restrained, so I put it on. It fit me like a glove: It totally squares with my shoulders, it just about covers my butt, there were no creases at the back, the whole thing just skims my skin. It was better than bespoke, if that's possible. So I paid for it, and was gleefully walking out the store, when I thought, if this fits me now like a glove, in a month's time it's going to fit me like a noose.
