I was thinking of converting my postpaid to prepaid then buy the iphone 3GS at RM2490. with that i get free 500mb data for 12 months which is equivalent to RM600.

after 12 months i'll look at the current promotion available or switch back to postpaid or even change to another telco if its cheaper.

thanks for the advice. main reason i'm looking at it coz i got phone allowance from my company but up to a limit. and i didnt make much call mostly around RM40-50 per month. therefore best i convert to prepaid.

btw, any charge in converting? i can still keep my number rite?

called Maxis and to change from postpaid to prepaid, there is a fee of rm25 per line. that means rm50 since i got supplementary line as well.

but i have to settle my current postpaid bill first. hmm.. does it mean that they will pro-rate the charge if i change before the billing date?

suppl. lines belong to wife and she said if i change she also wanna change..

yes its possible. its actually the billing period. like mine, i collected on 1st September and the data services starts the next day. but my billing period starts on 17th of every month therefore, the data usage is prorated to around 300mb only.

i will reconfirm once i got my bill this coming week.

just wanna ask if anyone encountered similar billing problems as mine.

When i booked my iphone, i paid deposit of RM200 which they say it will be equally refunded by deducting RM40 for the next 5 months. it was fine until the 3rd month when i overshoot the data usage and was billed a total of RM380. due to shortage of cash, i only paid RM250 on the 3rd month. My line was not barred at all. But comes the 4th month, the refund of RM40 was not there. When i called Maxis, the call center ppl told me that it was due to my overdue amount of RM130 that they cancelled my refund. Even next month refund is cancelled!!!

I was furious with this and apart from that they put me on hold for more that 3 minutes while they checked. My question is can they cancel my refund due to overdue part payment? Has anyone encountered this before?

Besides, when i got my iphone, Maxis never told me of this t&c. Is it written anywhere? Or is it hidden under "Maxis reserves the right to ....".
