Hey guys!!
Tempted to get the IPhone 3Gs on the Hotlink plan. I can use wifi to download all my apps and videos right? And most places i go to have a wireless connection, so the 500mb data plan doesn't really matter right? If i decide to stick my Celcom postpaid into the new IPhone 3Gs, will the 500mb data be automatically forfeited, say if i decide to swap back to my Hotlink again? And also, on my postpaid Celcom plan, data is exp, i can just stick to wifi for everything right? |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 26 2009, 11:18 AM) @mac.tay, If I am maxis, new plan will definitely be intro after the launch. Or at least after a while until all the first wave of people are done with getting the iphone 3gs. These first wave or new gadgets adopters will usually pay higher price to be "first". Then left over will be in the second wave. I guess maxis learned their lesson from the first iphones with which they made losses (i think).I'm quite sure the new plan will be introduced only after the i3GS launch. The introduction of this new plans aren't really meant for iPhone users but then again.. muAHahAHha IMHO if Maxis doesn't introduce it, they stand to make more $ Added on July 27, 2009, 8:31 am QUOTE(zc_squash @ Jul 27 2009, 08:25 AM) 1. If u have wireless connection, then u can use it and ignore data plan offer by telco, maybe a bit wasted, but is up to you. If u do download , 500 mb is easy to hit the limit. Use that 500 mb when u are not stick with wireless connection around you. |

Guys, when you're going for the prepaid plan way to purchase the phone or to convert from postpaid to prepaid (as it's seemingly more worth it), are you all choosing it based on the Hotlink Youth Club prepaid or the normal one?
Cuz I randomly checked with one of the resellers and they said the HYC is only applicable to those with student cards (and I thought IC would be suffice). Also, the calling rate for the normal Hotlink prepaid is 0.33/min as opposed to 0.12/min! That's way too high already and even if we don't make much phone calls, it's still too steep, no? @jfoong,
Yes you're absolutely right. The prepaid option is only for those who don't use the line too often to make phone calls hence the RM0.33/min is ok. If Ur using ur line v often to make phone calls, it would be more feasible to stay with your post paid plan and purchase the i3GS using an iData plan instead. |

Hi, tinkerbel. Thanks for your reply.
I have a set of scenarios here, which I hope you guys could help me out with. A background of my usage - Approx. 100++ per month on my current Value 80 plan. I'm looking at iPhone 3GS 16GB. Prepaid plan is not an option for me (HYC is only for students, so I'm excluded). So, looking at postpaid plans are my leftover options. Hence: 1) Signing up for Value 155 - Potential of spending up to RM185, yearly spend would hover around RM2220. I'll be spending about RM1.2K more on my Maxis bills. If I were to sign up for 1 year, I get back RM700 for phone's saving. If 2 years, RM1.2K. So, the savings are paying off for my bills. 2 years get me extra RM500 savings but I dislike being tied for so long. 2) Stick to Value 80/downgrade to Value 50 and sign up for iData 50 - I'll spend RM600 per year but I'll get back RM400 for savings on the phone with 1 year contract. Lower phone bills compared with the first option (maybe). Personally, seems like getting the Value Plus 50 seems okay because with Extra Ten service, call rates can be 8cents/min + 1cents/sms for just RM8 per month. And the CS person told me there's no fee to downgrade from my existing one. Which one do you think would be more feasible? Or is there any other possible choices I should consider? Thanks alot, really needed some "encouragement" here |

FYI, I have been told that there is a 2% credit card charge when u make the full payment on collecting the 3GS unit (for those who choose the prepaid plan). Not sure if this is depends on which branch u order from.
(I just get a call from the Maxis branch where I placed my order there to collect the 3GS unit on 31/7) |

@jfoong:
your current plan is VP80 and usage will cost up to RM100+, if you were to opt for iValue 155, do u utilize that much of free calls? and SMS charges will cost extra. you might save more on the phone but in the long run, you might be paying extra on your bills which does not justify your usage. i think VP80 + iData 50 is a better option. or even VP50 + iData 50. you get to enjoy same calls rates, SMS usage included and most of all, cheaper monthly bills. and you get to save on the iPhone 3GS as well. @kaizen57: does that RM100 penalty to current new subscribers (3G/3GS) or just the ol' 3G ones? @RevoWithin,
You will keep to the same plan unless U make a request to Maxis to change it. Please refer to Page 1 of this thread to see if U think 500MB is sufficient for you. |

Just 4 more days til we get our brand spanking new iPhone 3G S guys! Wooo!
But I think I'm going t regret booking the 16GB one la. Should have booked the 32GB. Also I wanted to ask, is 3GB of data a lot for a mobile device? I'm quite a power 3G user. Use everyday. So 3GB would be enough or not? |

@doctorpopcorn,
I heard several forummers saying U can still change ur 'booking' at point of collection; then again some said cannot - best is to check with Maxis as they're the official source of information. As to whether 3GB of data usage is sufficient, please refer to Page 1 of this thread. |
