I'm quite sure the new plan will be introduced only after the i3GS launch. The introduction of this new plans aren't really meant for iPhone users but then again.. muAHahAHha IMHO if Maxis doesn't introduce it, they stand to make more $

Yes you're absolutely right. The prepaid option is only for those who don't use the line too often to make phone calls hence the RM0.33/min is ok.

If Ur using ur line v often to make phone calls, it would be more feasible to stay with your post paid plan and purchase the i3GS using an iData plan instead.

You will keep to the same plan unless U make a request to Maxis to change it. Please refer to Page 1 of this thread to see if U think 500MB is sufficient for you.

I heard several forummers saying U can still change ur 'booking' at point of collection; then again some said cannot - best is to check with Maxis as they're the official source of information.

I'm on the RM99 Unlimited data plan and they don't give U the breakdown. teikwing is on the 5MB @ RM8 plan and he does get a breakdown.

U can alwiz get an indication from Settings of ur iPhone 3GS.

I don't think U need to change ur plan from VP80 to VP50 before placing your booking because whichever plan Ur on U be able to qualify to purchase the i3GS. It will also take about 24hrs before the plan can be shifted from VP80 to VP50.

IMHO it shouldn't make a difference to ur i3GS booking/purchase if U shift from VP80 to VP50 - in fact, U can keep with ur VP80 plan and should U decide to want to shift to VP50 U can just contact Maxis and ask them to downgrade your plan. The contact in which U will be signing is really the iData plan hence the ValuePlus plans shouldn't be affected.

Situation
- I'm on the VP80 + RM99 Unlimited plan
- I now sign up to purchase an i3GS under iData 3
- When should I deactivate the existing RM99 Unlimited plan?

If Ur calling 123, it'll be great if U could check the above information for me but otherwise nm, I'll get it figured out somehow

U mean by signing on the iData plan, ur also locking the VP plan?! Now that is a little stewpid. In that case, I want to revert my VP80 to VP30 and change my dad's one from VP30 to VP80 - our call rate remains the same plus monthly commitment also the same except I'm on a lower plan now !

Thanks for the information though and I'll check again when I call 123 to make sure our information is the same - as U know, the information we get always not standard one

Act, upgrades will also have termination fees but can be waived; as I've mentioned earlier - but when it's upgrade it means Maxis stands to make more $ hence should be no problems for upgrades.

What surprises me with jfoong's answer is that when U sign on the iData plan, Maxis locks U in with the VP plans too, which in my opinion is unfair.

Yes I'm gonna call 123 in a while (boss around right now) to clarify things and if I'm not happy with the answer I'll just call my Maxis Insider! *grins*

I'm on hold at the moment while waiting for CS to double confirm with the Management because the information she gave me was what we thought is right, hence is different from what U got.

She said:-

2) The VP plan remains un contracted hence U can downgrade from VP80 to VP30 anytime during the 12 months. U just cannot touch the iData plan.

As to the question I posed earlier, she recommended to call in to Maxis to stop the RM99 Unlimited plan either before I collect the i3GS or the day before so there won't be 'double' billing.

And for record purposes, the person who spoke with me is one Sharifah.

I don't think it works that way because in order for U to sign on the iData plan, U must have an active VP plan hence switching from VP to Hotlink will not be possible.

Ur other option is to subscribe to the 500 SMS for RM8. Or get another phone just for SMS. RM98 on SMS alone is damn a lot - what do U do lah?! Some activist or something is it?

U will be tied to that plan for the duration of the contract hence until U stop the plan (after the contract has ended) U will be on the same plan. I do however recommend U swap over to the ValuePlus plans once your contract is up cause that's a cheaper plan.

I don't think U'll need to worry about the i3G stocks; should have no problems lah.

I hope U r right too cause I may just decide to swap from iData 3 to iData 2.

Yes that is absolutely right. And if your data utilisation exceeds what's given (I believe in ur plan, it's 500MB, right?) U will be charged 0.5sen/kb.

The 333 minutes = RM50
The 500MB data = RM50
Hence as long as U don't overuse the above U won't be charged additional. U will be charged once U exceed 333 minutes of call usage + 500MB of data usage. Also, please bear in mind, SMS charges are separate.

I'm not sure if U can add ValueExtras to your existing plan but I think should be possible since the RM8 for 500 SMS is a Value Extra plan. You can still maintain the supp line but U won't be able to enjoy the Family Plus plans; the iValue plans are independent of any other plans.

I didn't double confirm with Maxis 123 if the VP plans can be cancelled and moved to prepaid but from my understanding, I don't think Maxis will allow it.

The iValue plans have a higher rebate on the i3GS only because those plans, IMHO are cut-throat plans. I, for sure wouldn't wanna go with those plans but again it depends on usage. It's best to work out which plan will suit U best and do an overall calculation to see what the nett pay out to Maxis at the end of the contract.

Yes the iData plan is over and above your current existing VP plan. Better reconsider before U go pick up the i3GS because once U have signed on the plan U won't b able to change it.

We can't give U the absolute answer here but can guide U by proving more information.

If U go with (b) U will still be able to maintain your supp line and make free calls + SMS to it. For © it will be an independent plan so U won't get to enjoy the benefits of the Family Plus package.

You're absolutely right about having to change SIMs so I wouldn't recommend U go with an option that will bring you hassle of changing SIMs hence your best bet right now is IMHO either (A) or (B) [that's assuming U do make use of the Family Plus package]

Also the iValue plans do not come with SMS hence SMS charges are separate - which really makes the iValue plans not so worth it.

No one can answer that question - if U have intentions to get the i3GS then go ahead with the prebooking otherwise just wait a week or so for the kiasu ones to collect their phones and then walk into Maxis to get the i3GS

Of course the RM50 under iData is meant as subscription for data charges; U can't combine with your VP50 and make RM100 worth of calls without using data charges. U will still need to pay the RM50 for the data charges whether U use it or not.

Should U sign up on the RM8 for 500 SMS I believe Maxis will not charge you for the first 500 SMS sent out to Maxis calls; they will rebate it back to you and only charge u the remainder + to non Maxis numbers. It should work for whichever plan you're signed on to.

I think perhaps what the MEP meant is that they can't accept walk-in buyers for now until those who's pre-booked have received their units.

RM2650 is NOT the right price. The shop's probably trying to make additional RM200 from U. File a complain to Maxis - however I've a feeling that shop is probably not an authorised shop.
