@eyes98:
in most cases, your unit will be replaced with a new refurbished set. the waiting period is subjective as its stock-dependant.

@tskhang:

i believe that only valid for iData 1, RM30 for 250MB without contract.

@eyez98:
you're welcome. smile.gif

@tskhang:

err i don't think it applies to Value First 30 but you can try to reconfirm with Maxis. the term can be purchased separately means that disregard of postpaid plans you're on right now (as long as its VP 50 and above), you can subscribe to iData. and for iData 1, there's no contract involved, hence the price of iPhone will be at RRP.

there are 3 options in getting iPhone 3G/3GS from Maxis:
1. iValue (switch from current postpaid plans or register a new line)
2. iData (pair with current postpaid plan)
3. Hotlink (current prepaid number or get a new one)

@tink:
there's this small line of sentence just below the iData plans. "iData plan can also be purchased separately. The price of the iPhone will be at RRP."

@tink:
so now Maxis postpaid subscribers has a new option:

get iPhone 3G/3GS at RRP price by subscribing to iData, without contract.

there's no need of switching to iValue, get Hotlink prepaid plan or subscribing to iData on contract.

getting yours? biggrin.gif

@tink:
you're signing for iData right? Maxis should prioritize postpaid/contract subscribers. who knows you might be getting your unit earlier than expected? smile.gif

@hapa:

it's not a new rule. even a simple transfer of supplementary line to another principal owner needs both owners to be present.

@gogo2:

we've yet to have a proper confirmation from Maxis regarding that. in my humple opinion, the prepaid outright plan has not been put off totally, it's just that since Maxis have shortage of stocks currently, priority is given to contract subscribers and the prepaid plan was temporarily put on hold.

Don't think they would prioritize anyone for this. Mine still delay for 2 weeks due to stock issue and it's only available after 18th.

And for transferring of Sub line to Main, you can make use of the authorization letter, there's no need for the principal line to be present. I did that so I'm very sure that would work. smile.gif
*
err what i meant was transferring of supplementary line under principal owner A to principal owner B.

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Aug 10 2009, 02:53 PM)
500mb is supposed to be free. For example, if you buy without contract with prepaid, you also get free 500mb data.

Prepaid + Value 50
No contract
500mb
15 cents per minute call

Ivalue 50
Contract
500mb
33 cents per minute call

The RM50 per month is same for contract and no contract. Why want to get yourself in contract just for 500mb data???
Is RM50 for data + contract worth it? Its just not making any sense... laugh.gif
Do read my reply above for better understanding of my context laugh.gif... you guys are being duped by Maxis  wink.gif
*
QUOTE(gogo2 @ Aug 10 2009, 03:34 PM)
That's why its not making sense to get IValue plan contract just because of the 500MB data. That's the most ridiculous thing
I've heard ever since I read this thread. Some more that person scold Maxis for not letting him be duped by Maxis.  tongue.gif

QUOTE(doomx @ Aug 10 2009, 03:41 PM)
If all they want is the 500mb of data,better get the prepaid. got free 500mb for 12 months ma. As for me im getting the plan is for the phone savings smile.gif. Lol.

QUOTE(edthrax @ Aug 10 2009, 05:59 PM)
well the Idata 2 plan for existing maxis customer is rm50 entitles them with 500mb of data..

isnt it the same as ivalue100 = ivalue 50 + idata 2..

which interms mean RM50 for calls and another rm50 for 500Mb?
which means its rm0.15 per minute? .. well a maxis personnel just confirmed me its rm0.15 per minute and the 333 minutes and 500mb data is not free, the only free thing is the 100 sms .. unless its their standard practise to dupe customer..

and of course who wants data only should take the prepaid plan...but they need to maintain the line validity for a year right?
which need to top up rm33 for the 365 days validity, then atleast load rm30 once in 6 month? is this true?
*
@gogo2:
it's not fair to equate prepaid to postpaid in the first place as both are obviously two different plans. hence, the free 500MB obtained via prepaid can't be weigh against the 500MB in iValue/iData.

firstly, call rates for prepaid to Maxis numbers are not fixed. (except for Hotlink Youth Club, Activ10)

second, the convenience of postpaid against prepaid.

next, you get more savings on the iPhone upfront if you're on iValue/iData.

most people opted for iValue/iData due to the fact that they've already been on postpaid and looking for more savings on the iPhone upfront rather than paying for the outright prices.

and of course, if one is looking at the free 500MB data alone, he/she should go for outright/repaid purchase rather than iValue/iData.

as usual, those who're average users should go for VP50 + iData 2 rather than iValue 1.

*"duped by Maxis" isn't a appropriate term. this is not supposed to be a Maxis bashing thread. cheers~ smile.gif

@edthrax:
from the first page, post #4.

> Get a normal Hotlink simpack, subscribe to Hotlink 365 (maintain prepaid line validity for a year) for:
Subscription is RM33 (one time) + RM30 (min top-up within 1st 6 months) = RM63
**Both will ensure your prepaid line will be valid 24/7 to receive the 500mb data bundle!

Was told I can choose to subscribe to Maxis Broadband unlimited access @ RM99/month for 24 months, then I get RM900 off to buy an iPhone. So I can use this as a backup to the ever-not-so-stable-Streamyx.

Good option to take?

Thanks.

i believe that mobile internet still unable to replace Streamyx, unless you only use it for casual surfing.

QUOTE(vectorian @ Aug 19 2009, 02:04 AM)
Just wanted to ask for some advice from all the sifus here. I recently booked the 3GS (1 mth waiting period) and was told that I can still change the plan and contract period upon receiving the iPhone.

During the sign-up I indicated my preferred plan was iValue 1 with 24 mths contract.

My situation is such... been a Maxis postpaid user for more than 10 years so the 24mths is no big issue in my opinion. Afterall the savings on the iPhone is more desirable. Currently I am Value Plus 80 plan.

Knowing I am a app, gaming, email user and social networking freak, I am a tad worried whether the iValue plan is sufficient as I do not want to incur excessive charges for over usage.

So my question is:
Should I stick with iValue 1 or can you kind fellas advice a better option?
Thanks in advance!
*
so you're worry about the 500MB given each is not sufficient for your usage? if you look here from what nokia2003 has stated, even 250MB is quite sufficient for casual surfing. if you are doing a lot of apps download etc then maybe you should opt for higher data package eg. iValue 2 with 1GB.

Thanks teikwing. I also heard that the 500mb data is pro-rated each day... is that true?

Yea I am contemplating on getting either IValue2 or stick with my Value Plan and just add iData3 but that would make the iPhone more expensive though.
*
500MB for each monthly cycle, you can keep track of your usage via Settings -> Usage -> Data.

well, depends on your usage but it's advisable to take iData if you still would like to enjoy your benefits under Value Plan, eg. call rates, combined SMS charges, credit sharing. you're still able to get discount on the phone (lesser) and enjoy the data bundle each month under iData.

you're most welcomed. smile.gif

which one is more budget saving,
whether i subscribe value plus 50+ iData 50.
or juz iValue 1?
but plus 50 is  RM0.12/minute and 0.05/sms
while iValue is RM0.15/m and 0.10/sms...
*
this question has been discussed previously. do read up.

if your monthly usage is more on calls than SMS, and looking to pay lesser upfront for iPhone, get iValue.

if you're looking to have benefits such as credit sharing with supplementary lines, lower call rates, SMS included in monthly usage instead of separate billing, doesn't mind to pay lil' bit more upfront for the phone, get iData.

normally, it's advisable to get Value Plan + iData if you're a normal usage with balanced usage of calls and SMS.

From the front page I see the installment plan is only for ivalue plan right? Buying at RRP won't allow us to use installment as well?
*
it's still possible for installment even if you're buying at RRP (ie. outright). but you'll have to deal with your CC's bank rather than Maxis/Machines. there might be some additional surcharge on top of the RRP.

@Darkmage12:
installment is applicable for outright purchases but there might or might not be additional surcharge. consult your bank's CC customer service.

@hussain:

there should be stocks for 3G.

how does the 1 day package works??? looks very confusing to me...  rclxub.gif

*edit: seems like maxis has removed the extra bytes from the value extras
*
it's stated below the packages:

* Maximum usage for 1 Hour and 1 Day use is 100MB and 500MB. Subsequent usage will be charged RM0.01/KB (peak) and RM0.05/KB (off peak)
* Subsequent usage for Monthly pass will be charged RM0.05/KB

tinkerbel, for Hotlink Youth Club, it says 1sen/kb at peak rates. So RM30 can only give me 3000kb~3mb.

1. Can iData go with prepaid?
2. If cannot, then i subscribe just iData RM30 into my postpaid plan without buying 3GS also can?
3. The calculation above correct?
*
1. No.
2. iData must go with purchase of i3G/3GS. or else, you'll need to opt for these packages:

Hey i have a question.  This has been answered in the beginning but I am a bit unsure.  Are all the maxis iphone 3gs unlocked, even the ones with the 12 month contract?  (as in can be used with other telcos) or only the ones bought under the prepaid? thx, just need this to be clarified.
