Hi all,

Base on the topic, I cant decide on which model I should go for and need your help.

I am considering to get a 40' LCD TV, mostly for gaming purposes (xbox 360, ps3), might link up with computer in the future and it will be place in my bedroom(Not very bright lighning room).

Not watching Astro.

After going through some of the research on this forum, I had minimise down to the below 3 model.

1. Sony KLV-40W550

2. Samsung LA-40B650

3. Sharp LC-42A77M

Which of these 3 model is best value for money in your opinion?

Which LCD TV set should I get base on the fact I given up there.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks alots. smile.gif

If your room is not very bright and consider your gaming purpose, the Panasonic plasma is the best you can choose.
At the price of the abovementioned 3 models of LCD, you can actually buy a 50 inch Panasonic plasma which offer much better contrast ratio which is good for gaming. brows.gif Jintex now selling Panasonic plasma at a very attractive price, you can refer to www.jintexelectronics.com or pm kevinc66 !!!

Get Sony W550 bro. Perfect for gaming especially with PS3. Full HD, 10-bit panel, 100Hz, new Bravia Engine-3...to name a few. Excellent with PC also because of full HD resolution. Lower power consumption compared to plasma.

Been using plasma for ps3 and pc game. No problem at all. Those burn in story is so old. As long as you don't put up a static screen overnight I don't see any problem. For the price above, you can get 42" Full HD plasma or top up a bit get 50" Full HD plasma. Those mid range LCD can't compare to plasma quality unless you go for higher model.

Hihi, my main worries for Plasma is the reflection sad.gif and the heat generated when playing games..(Mean air-con need to be on when using it.)

Radiation is a minor concern too as it will be place near to my bed..

Also is plasma capable to use with PC for long hour? (like > 10 hour per day, and not shorten its normal life span because of this.)

Please advise. Thanks. smile.gif

Reflection is due to placement. If you don't face window or direct light source, then no problem. Another trick is to use ambient light. Put some T5 light behind your plasma.

TS, go for Sony lor. 3 years warranty. 1 to 1 replacement within 1 month. Can trade in some more (in Sony Style), Cash back some more. 0% installment. Now until end of July is Bravia season. Better take advantage. W series got Motion Flow 100Hz, contrast also good. 100,000:1.

Plasma panel surface has reflection because it is made of Glass. this doesnt happen on LCD panel because it is made of plastic.

since LCD panel uses plastic as the surface panel, this is the reason why Plasma tv is absolutely having better and natural images compared to LCD tv.

will you be playing games 8hours a day? i do play PS3 on my plasma tv 4hours occasionally under ceiling fan situation, i dont feel any heat released from the tv while sitting at the sofa.

if you concern that the heat generated from the plasma tv while playing games may disturb you, what about your PS3 device? i think the internal fan of PS3 will roar like a tiger once you keep running the device for 1hour.

both plasma tv and LCD tv are capable to use with PC. fyi, plasma panal has 100k hours lifespan while LCD panel has 60k hours lifespan. if you connect plasma tv or lcd tv to PC for 10hours per day, this practice will definitely shorten the lifespan of both panels.

although plasma have better picture than lcd, plasma screen flicker. i wouldnt worry about burn in. even image retention is hard to produce.

so, if you want to watch movie go for plasma. if gaming, pc, etc, go for lcd.

afaik, i wouldn touch samsung. i have bad experience with samsung to trust it anymore. sony have 3 years warranty. i believe sharp also have 3 years warranty (correct me if im wrong). both sharp and sony have excelent image quality. in terms of price, sony is TOTALLY overprice.

i would go for sharp.
