Correct me if im wrong.....this coming January, Malaysia and other asia country will decrease the tax for asia market.....so, any home entertainment device such as plasma, lcd, etc... should be in lower price rite?

A lower price is always welcomed, but like cars...when the price drop lower, the manufacturer instead control the price.

They been talking abt this for years. And prices still high. Its a win some and lose some and at the end , SAME PRICE.

based on previous malaysian style, if at all the AFTA thing does become a reality, import tax may be reduced, but then do not be suprised that the g'ment will intro new tax format. at the end of the day, same ol same ol
i wouldn't be too hyped over this |

for the future model they can speculate the price but for ready stock, import from outside, they should lower the price rite...bcoz its tax free...all begin on 1st Jan 2010...

even if the tax reduced....the profit margin merchant will tambah n dun pass the discount to customer.....they will give 1001 excuses...
best excuse:- want to maintain 2nd value..... |

no, they will say shipping and raw material increase in price, so no difference in price, infact maybe higher price

like cars, prices would never come down. No tax but other forms of levy would be included.
In the case of plasma, the high prices got nothing to do with tax (only taxed if got tuner), it is the local manufacturer or distributor that is screwing people up |

Reduce in import duty but increase in excise duty. That's what happened to automotive.
Tax / duty is one of the main source of income of our government. Unless, it is as rich as Brunei, then it would be a different story. |

most electronics are actually manufactured locally or in china.....but strangely the locally manufactured stuff is always more expensive....wonder wat tax they pay to manufacture locally n sell locally
