the toneport is powered only by USB sad.gif

http://line6.com/toneportux1/

and i did not use any usb hub, but i might consider getting a powered usb to see if that works sad.gif

Added on July 8, 2009, 2:04 ambeen googling and my eyes almost turn grey, no concrete solutions. just what-if.

1. doesn't work well with AMD platform

2. need to open up drivers propertiesproperties to reduce the crackle and pop?!?! (WTF)

3. getting a powered USB

haha... bro, u also facing the same problem i faced with my Behinger UCG102, crackling sound. at first it was real obvious, like damn loud crackling. but after i installed ASIO4ALL driver the crackling somewhat reduced but u still hear it but faintly. it may be bad quality cables cause 1 of my cables produces extra crackling.

oh, on the side note, if any1 intends to use anything from Native Instruments such as Guitar Rig 3 with Audacity, bad news, GR3's effects can't be captured in Audacity because Audacity cannot support certain VST plug-ins, in this case GR3 because of the visual interface.

in cubase you could change the sound device to UX1 instead of ASIO multimedia

check cables, input levels, output levels, power supply 'cleanness', toneport USB cable, USB port, drivers that may corrupt and last but not least, the toneport itself...
Last time my PodXT live would suddenly hang and emitts high frequency noise like 'eekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk'...imagine while playing with headphones, suddenly 'eekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk' pops out....

Same thing happened to my UX2.
I plugged it into my Hub and the crackling was killer.
I plugged it directly into my laptop, no problems.

i google until i wanna cry, a lot of folks say the AMD chipset the newer one got massive issues with audio interface, need to install the AMD USB filter which somewhat, reduce the problem but did not eliminate it totally sad.gif sucks man if i knew i would get Intel instead of AMD sad.gif((((((((((

but dun take my word for it, i have yet to try it on a wintel machine.

it happened with my hp laptop with amd too. this is how i solve it (might now work with urs, tho compaq and hp are similar)

download and install this

AMD USB Filter

then when u have gearbox open, right click on the volume icon on the window taskbar and click recording devices.

try that
