After waiting for one month after my iPhone arrived and I'm not allow to get it with prepaid plan as promised during the booking, I decide to cancel the order and get back my deposit, well, I must said forcing people take the contract by onhold iPhone DOESN'T WORK FOR ME. Guess Maxis is doing really doing good job by screwing up customer and itself.

With this type of approach to piss off customer, I can forsee more market share is losing. If their concern is people might bought the phone with prepaid plan and switch to use other telco, it just doesn't make sense since Hotlink is offering monthly 500mb 3G data transfer for one year with existing Hotlink number, I think this is attractive enough the retain the customer. Besides, I'm a Maxis user and already using Maxis prepaid for 7-8 years, which has no plan to switch to other telco, but I might rethink about switching due to what I been treated with this iPhone purchasing experience.

Pls PM me which shop in Penang able to offer prepaid plan for iPone 3GS 32G for now.

Can anyone help me on this, I just receive my iPhone with Hotlink prepaid plan, and I already receive SMS from hotlink said m 500mb free monthly data transfer has been granted, but I am not able to suft net using 3G, I already on the 3G setting in iPhone, but when I go to Safari, it prompt me some sort of no cellular data service. I have no problem surf net through Wi-Fi. Is there any additional setting need to be done.

One more question, I saw sometimes the there's edge connection E logo, can iPhone use for edge connection?

maxis3g too congested to be used, so most of the time websites go timed out.
just switch to edge/gprs. its faster than 3g.

Added on September 27, 2009, 1:12 amtook me hours of testing, rebooting etc etc.. plus a trip to maxis center to figure this out.

But the 500mb is free one, how to switch to edge/gprs? How much it cost?

Hotlink customer needs to ensure that their line has validity in order to receive the free 500 MB data every month in their Hotlink plan.

yup. you paid in advance for the data for 12 months. everymonth u get 500mb.

setting->general->network->disable 3G

disable 3g so the phone will only use the more stable GSM/GPRS/EDGE network.

better start reading the manual
In Settings, choose General > Usage
but its not accurate one. maxis also dunno how to gauge, until u receive ur bill/start deducting ur credit drastically.

500mb for me.. just 1 week use. light email and utube only.

After I disable 3G, how to connect to GSM/GPRS/EDGE network? I don't see any of this setting, I only see WiFi and 3G On/Off only.
