I got extremely excited today when a Maxis personnel called me up today. I thought I could collect my iPhone today. Mana tau, all he wanted to know was where I would like to collect my phone. My heart skipped a little... Aih... When I asked him when, his answer is similar to those received by the forumers here - 30 days from the day you booked your phone.

Can anyone explain how the RM 500 rebates work?
I got the offer both in post and SMS.

Questions which I hope you guys can help me answer if I confirm the booking online @ http://www.maxis.com.my/vip1
1) Is this WITHOUT any plans? Meaning I can purchase it and sell of my old "3G"(bought from Maxis) and use my current sim card in the 3GS.
2) How does the RM 104/month works? Just bill it to my CC?
3) It says "Priority Delivery"..so long long is the wait?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi there,

1. As mentioned in the flyer mail you received, you can purchase 1 iPhone 3GS without any plans. Yes, you may do what you want with your old 3G Phone. The RM500 rebate offered will be credited into your existing iValue Plan that you purchased with your iPhone 3G.
2. If you take RM104 x 24 months, it will come out to a price of a outright phone of the 3GS 16GB (RM1490). This means you would be able to purchase the phone via 0% instalment using your CC.
3. Good question. This is for Maxis to know and for us to find out. "Priority Delivery" is a very loosely used term as there is no indication on how long.

i spoke to maxis and they say there is no 0% installment thing. the 104 per month is just to attract people.

I don't think anyone of us should jump into any conclusion on what Maxis personnel said. Even from the forums here, we noticed that Maxis personnel provides various responses to the same question.

For those early adopters who have received the mail from Maxis, it was clearly mentioned inside and underlined as well "You can also enjoy interest free Easy Payment scheme for up to 24 months that we have put in place for your convenience" I am sure Maxis put it in words for a reason.

Anyhow, let's see how it goes. I will report back here on whether the 0% is valid or not when I get the 3GS as I intend to utilize this facility.

hello do anyone know if book the iphone using the card that maxis rebate rm500 no need to pay deposit and have no receipt to take?
Because that day when i book they told me no need to pay deposit and also no receipt.

For those with the RM500 rebate, there is no need for any deposit nor will you receive any receipt. All you have to do is to register at www.maxis.com.my/vip1 or present your card at any Maxis center and they will register for you. A Maxis personnel will call you up in due time to ask you for your location to collect the iPhone. After which you should receive a SMS notifying you to collect your phone.

I have registered my phone online on the 18th of August and a Maxis personnel have already called me up on the 28th of August to confirm my location of picking up the iPhone.

The iPhone 3GS ad says monthly fee of RM80 for Visa and MasterCard holders of Maybank, HSBC, Citibank & Public Bank.

That means If I'm card holder fof HSBC I only pay monthly fee of RM80 instead of RM100 for iValue 1 right?

I want to sub another line, is that possible? How much do I need to pay if I want to sub another line?
*
Please read the fine print in any advertisement. It is clearly stated in the ad fine print that the RM80 is to purchase the iPhone 3GS based on iValue-2 24 months contract + RM620 prepayment. Using the 0% 24 months, it will turn out to be approximately RM80 per month or RM79.58 to be exact.

On a monthly basis, you still have to continue to pay the monthly commitment fee of RM155 and the RM620 will be credited to your account over the first 5 months. So for the first 5 months, your bill will roughly be about RM31 (excluding taxes and other value added services) if you did not exceed your data, call, SMS and MMS usage.

Sorry, actually I dont really understand how it works.  cry.gif
So.. I suscribe for iValue 2 on 24 months contract, and I pay RM31 for first 5 months and then RM155 on the 6th month onwards?  rclxub.gif

Precisely. The ad is merely presenting to the consumers one of the many options that is available from Maxis. Going to http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/iphone3gs/rateplan1.asp can provide you more choices and more information.

Just wanna ask, how come some ppl got RM500 rebate from maxis? Issit cos u guys previously on a contract and then renew the contract?
*
The rebate of RM500 is offered to early adopters of the iPhone 3G. It is offered without any contract meaning that the phone is sold outright. The offer has ended as of 19th of September 2009.

Quite similar to my story too. They promised to call me back but no one called back. After making 4 calls, I finally talked to someone who could make a decision and told her that Maxis is unprofessional for not fulfilling even a simple promise of calling back.

On that same day, a Maxis personnel called me up to tell me that my phone is ready for collection.

Thanks Caveat. This would me by 26th days of waiting.
*
I waited for 35 days.

Approximately 1 week after I collected my iPhone 3GS, I received another call (apparently from Maxis) telling me that on top of the 30+14 days delay, my phone will be delayed another 14 days. From that moment, I knew how screwed up Maxis system is. The people who called me (probably some outsource company) has no idea that I have already collected my unit.

I was baffled. I told her that I have already collected my iPhone 3GS and she was stunned for a moment on the phone - silence. After a moment, she replied - "Thank you sir"
