i tried to record the guitars by leaning the pc mic against the amp but the problem is, anything that is played on the pc would be recorded as well. why does this happen?

i've even tried muting the system's master volume control but sounds playing on the desktop would still be recorded.

anyone knows how to fix this issue?

EDIT: it is comfirmed that it is not caused by the recording software im using as i tried the other ones and its the same.

be sure to select input as line in/mic in instead of "what u hear" or "stereo mix" or something like that. in fact, if you use mic in or line in, you should select the respective audio input as your recording input.

thanks for answering but i've already did all that before i even tried recording. i think the sounds are not supposed to be recorded but due to some weird reasons, they are recorded along but the volume is very soft but very noticeable still.

hmmm what sound card are u using? could that be the reason?

i have the solution already.
i have what they call a 'crosstalk'/audio leakage problem.
i must now lower down recording volume to avoid recording what's leaked from the sound card

that's...weird? curious what kind of soundcard you're using. i've used many cheapo built it laptop soundcard since year 2002, never have such problem.

hmm...wonder if what hes hearing is actually a slight echo due to latency?
never heard of sound leakage from the soundcard that way before.
also dunno wat kinda setup it is too.

I'm thinking this problem would be caused by the output of your soundcard. Is it connected to a speaker? try using headphones as the output.

i believe that this only happens in very badly designed and poor quality equipment. do correct me if i'm wrong.
last time our church had a behringer mixer that had signals mixing and running accross the board (even though muted).

yours should be the same case, but on a smaller scale.
