I have to disagree with you. Take Ironhide and Ratchet. Ironhide's paint scheme is off, but they just wanted to make it interesting enough to warrant a second purchase from both kids and collectors. How many black Ironhides can one get?  Remember that they did bring in new, more accurate cannons to satisfy collectors, there's always Jungle Ironhide due out soon to satisfy the hunger for black Ironhides.
Ratchet's new paint scheme isn't half bad, darker look actually suits the movie desert theme. Don't even start comparing him with Metallic Ratchet, those were sold in premium prices. Some of your comparisons between the figures from both lines are just way off. Why are you comparing ROTF Smokescreen with Jazz? One being an onscreen character and another being offscreen, as if we never saw repaints from TFTM? Complaining that Smokescreen is a repaint of Jazz is just like complaining why Thundercracker is a repaint of Starscream. It is only right that you compare Sideswipe with Jazz, being the obvious replacement.
Hasbro has confirmed that the bikes will combine. There's combination tabs all around them, it's the fans who started pointing these out first, not Hasbro. Just seems to me that you don't seem to be giving the new molds a chance? Some of the toys you skipped, mainly the twins and Sideways have proven to be extremely complex toys. Miles better than anything TFTM could offer. Another thing that bugs me, you simply assume shelf-warmers are bad toys? Take Wheelie, Chromia or even Breakaway, if you have a chance to fiddle with em in person you'll definitely change your mindset about "shelf-warmers".
