Hmmmm I dont think you are able to use facebook / msn without BIS / BES ...
You are able to sync mails by using 3rd party software connected to wifi I think ....
I think if you want to gmail / facebook / yahoo / msn without BIS / BES ... I would recommend iPhone le

QUOTE(Salience @ Jul 10 2009, 04:25 AM) can someone pls confirm? can i just use normal wifi or edge to login to emails or facebook? or can i must have BIS/BES? for internet access you do not have to have BIS/BES subscription - you can access thru wifi or any data plan you have. 'on-the-go/push mail' function requires BIS/BES (ie RIM server access); tho, some users use third party software for the function ('push mail') n says it worked for them. cheers! QUOTE(Salience @ Jul 10 2009, 02:49 PM) i still don't understand the benefits of BIS when u say worth paying rM40, why is that so? To use a Blackberry without at least the BIS service is like having a horse driven coach without the horse. You just sit there looking pretty in the coach but you'd be going nowhere. The BIS is the data service which the Blackberry is built to use. First of all, your PUSH email will not work because without the BIS service, you cannot connect back to RIM's servers. It is the RIM's servers that does the pulling of mails from your email (gmail/personal/work except Exchange which you then use BES) and then pushing it to your Blackberry. Secondly, some application is built to only use BIS as the data connection, therefore will not work if you don't have BIS.

No BIS = No MSN / No BB IM / No Push Email / No Internet Conenction when you do not have Wifi around / No Viigo (RSS Feeds)
BB Without BIS = limitations ...
anyway when u have it then u will know le ...

I was also like that before. I thought I can be ok without BIS. I can still check email and facebook using browser if I just subscribe to data plan.
But after subscribing BIS, its a whole lot more exciting. I can use Facebook for Blackberry where I get updates instantly and reading email in BIS is more easier and fun.

QUOTE(durfzstonez @ Jul 11 2009, 01:38 AM) can someone help me, how am i going to subscribe to bis? choose your preferred service provider celcom or maxis, bring your documentations, go to their center n ask to subcribe for that servive (BIS). you nee to decide what data amount/plan you want, they should guide you for the rest. for some info before u go, try these links: http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/blackberry/packages.asphttp://www.celcom.com.my/cep/cheers!
