Guys, Is there any way to check whether BB Pin of a device has been released by the old telco companies? I notice there are many blackberry from overseas which are being sell in MY, but the pin status are unknown. I also dont want to go though all the hasle calling the previous operator if the device PIN are still not release yet, especially when the CS doesnt know what you are talking about Appreciate if any BB experts could shed some lights here Cheers

i don't think there's is no other way than to check it yourself whether you can sign up/register for the BIS website with your username and password. If you fail to do so...then it's a 90% chance that your pin is not released yet. then the only way to release it..is to call the old carrier for that phone and ask the old Telco to release the PIN for your BB.

You can check the status of the PIN:- Options -> Status If there is 8-alphanumeric PIN, then the PIN has been released already

QUOTE(uhlaw @ Jul 20 2009, 01:38 AM) You can check the status of the PIN:- Options -> Status If there is 8-alphanumeric PIN, then the PIN has been released already The appearance of the PIN on the status has nothing to do with it being released. Whether it is released or still tied to a particular network, you can always see your PIN number. This is different and not related to unlocking the phone. For example, even if you have an unlocked phone, when you move from Maxis to Celcom network, Maxis has to release the PIN so that it can be registered on the Celcom network. The best way is to go to www.maxis.blackberry.com or Celcom's Blackberry site (sorry, dunno celcom's one) and attempt to register the PIN/IMEI. If you can't register it, that means it has not been released.
