Would the Cydia app 'Insomnia' drains the battery?

Surely drain like vampire sucking blood.

Hello Lowyat people! smile.gif

I have an iPhone 2G with me, and my iPhone cant seem to charge more than 30% using a USB Charger. I dont have the wall charger because I lost it. The iPhone was working normally a day before, when I cant find a spot to charge my phone so I left it until the phone battery dries flat. The next morning I tried hooking up to a computer, and it wont charge. I was stuck on the red battery screen for a full day and its still cant charge enough to boot the phone. All of a sudden it charge and boot up the phone somehow, now when plugged into the charger it will sometime go from 23% back to 18% then went up again to 22% and so forth but definitely wont reach more than 30%. The battery drain in some cases can drain 1% in 5 seconds!

I've already updated my phone from previous 3.1.2 to newer 3.1.3, did a restore and everything. It doesnt work.

I need to know if anybody faces the same problem, it is the battery's problem ( I need to replace ) or most of the time is the charger itself? I'd really appreciate if someone can help me out smile.gif

It might due to motherboard or battery. Bring your phone to hardware technician to do diagnostic on the phone.
Btw you should post your enquire here : http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/998251/+1460

meaning a full charge will takes 4 hours?

Its very subjective thou, based on experience wall charger usually perform a faster charge comparing to USB cable charge.

hi all, 1 noob question please . everytimes i charge my 3gs until it show battery 100% then i off the charge. is this correct way ?
*
No need unplug is also possible yo, Apple battery is rechargeable lithium-based, it will automatically stop charging when it reaches 100%. So chill, leave it there or unplugged, either way is fine.

Hi Guys,

I think I m experiencing battery drain as well. Normally i charged my phone fully before I sleep that will be about 12am...

Then whenever i get up..i should still have about 97% at 6am

However, nowadays I only have 93% despite turning everything off.

And on average day time with hardly any usage, my battery drains at a rate of about 7-8% / 2 hours....is that normal ?

HI coconutron, hows going? Standby mode dropped 3-10% I would say its normal wor. But your day time usage is abnormal. IOS 4.3.3 might be the culprit after all. I'm experiencing the same thing myself with my oldie i3gs.

i have a 3G from canada...i've been tryin to unlock it but it failed...do u think he got any idea in gettin it fixed??  hmm.gif

I doubt gevey sim works on i3g. Software is the only effective method to unlock this oldie device. Let us not forget, it is also highly dependent on your current IOS & modem firmware.

will replacing the battery manually void the warranty?
*
Yes, once you unscrew the phone and peel off "do not remove sticker" is then consider warranty gone. Changing battery require you to unseal the sticker.
