issit jailbroken? the only times an iphone gets hot for no reason is when there's a running process running or in the background hogging up the processor. this doesn't happen on official firmware but i've heard it happening to a lot of jb'ed phones. my advice is to check what's running in the background and get rid of it.

the only reason i think would cause the phone to overheat is something hogging up the processor. jb users have so many stuff installed in the background in the form of mobile substrate services. that's why they get a lot of battery drain and overheating issues. i was in the jb scene when i had my 3g but decided to go legit on my new phone :3 no hassle.

and as for battery drain. with 3g on (bluetooth off) an iphone 4 should last you roughly a day of normal usage. without 3g but using wifi, it will last much longer, without wifi or 3g it will last for days of normal usage. battery issues depends on ur usage, ur charging practices and whether your device is jailbroken or not. software unlocked phones and jailbroken phones in general seem to get most reports of battery drain most of the time its software related but every now and then it could be the hardware.

lotsa variables that would affect battery life so it's really hard to pinpoint the problem. to find out if its the hardware that's causing the problem or, just do a clean restore of an official iOS installation and see if the battery problems persist. if it does then its ur battery. if not, then its software related.

full cycle charge (about 4 hours)

although after abt 2 hrs into the charging and it shows 100%, i guess it will still  charge slowly wif "trickle charge".............meaning it will still charge slowly until it reaches the 4th hour. this way your battery will last longer as can be seen from your explanation........i too using an i2G and it last longer than my bro's 3Gs

agree. 3g on, auto backlight on... everything being switched on. that's a kill.

My iPhone 4 was at 100% last night at 11pm. It goes to sleep mode after 2 minutes, brightness set at approx. 70% with auto-brightness turned on, left my WIFI on the whole night, turned it off at around 7am the this morning, used 3G for about 2 hours or so for the day, some messaging, no calls, and my battery is at 42% now. How normal is this? It drains pretty fast if you ask me.

Anyway, do you guys leave cellular data (and therefore EDGE) on always? I keep getting the Turn Cellular Data on message if I turn it off.

damn! i havin' this problem for the first time too

charged 100% full before sleep, 7 hours later the percentage drop to 79%. standby for 7 hours already eaten up 21%, this is really abnormal. triple checked there is no background program runnin'; turned off everything (only airplain mode is on)

already reboot & now observin' how this thing goes wrong again...

Different for me.. When I go to sleep, my IPhone Battery is at 53%.

I wake up at 10.00 AM, battery still at 49%.

Then untill evening I use at 5.00 PM the battery is at 21%.

Is that normal?

i think i should OFF the battery percentage readings, haha...

if can, when you completed charging your hp, do shut down and restart your phone. it will clean out all the background or any processor running at background. i read somewhere in the internet and tested for few times, so far so good as my battery drain around 5% for playing zombie farm and other apps for 30 mins.

What do you mean exactly when you say "reset"? Wont resetting erase all data and settings?

well, on my personal experienced for 1 day usage...the battery drainin' issue did improve a bit. just find out the current "usage & standby" is now in "parallel" mode???

If using Winterboard and using theme will "EAT" battery or not ya?
