Hi guys, wanna ask currently my iphone 2 running on firmware 3.1.3(Jailbrake) has terrible battery drain issue.
After the charging period(4 hours) i disconnect and start to browser around setting after 10min the battery level down to 87percent.
So which mean i only can use the phone about 8hours and talktime around 40mins.
So guys its that worth to change new battery for the iphone ?
Would it be the same as previous or how ?

please suggest me.thanks

issit jailbroken? the only times an iphone gets hot for no reason is when there's a running process running or in the background hogging up the processor. this doesn't happen on official firmware but i've heard it happening to a lot of jb'ed phones. my advice is to check what's running in the background and get rid of it.

is that true ? jailbrake iphone only have this issue.
as my brother previouslly used iphone 2g,3g,3gs (All Maxis Set) before, every night he will charge the phone.
so maybe this problem even arise in official software.

So if im going to just unlock the phone only without installing cydia is that possible ?
Does anyone having iphone 2g Official firmware ?

the only reason i think would cause the phone to overheat is something hogging up the processor. jb users have so many stuff installed in the background in the form of mobile substrate services. that's why they get a lot of battery drain and overheating issues. i was in the jb scene when i had my 3g but decided to go legit on my new phone :3 no hassle.

and as for battery drain. with 3g on (bluetooth off) an iphone 4 should last you roughly a day of normal usage. without 3g but using wifi, it will last much longer, without wifi or 3g it will last for days of normal usage. battery issues depends on ur usage, ur charging practices and whether your device is jailbroken or not. software unlocked phones and jailbroken phones in general seem to get most reports of battery drain smile.gif most of the time its software related but every now and then it could be the hardware.

lotsa variables that would affect battery life so it's really hard to pinpoint the problem. to find out if its the hardware that's causing the problem or, just do a clean restore of an official iOS installation and see if the battery problems persist. if it does then its ur battery. if not, then its software related.

I cancel my Data subscription because of this.

So bacislly this is my setting

Wifi - Off
Notification *from all apps* - Off
Data Push - Off

My usage

Ipod-Non
SMS - 30sms
Call - 1 Hours

Jailbrake with Resnow and install cydia.i suspect my reflective dock and winterboard are the only background apps running form jailbrake.
So should i restore the firmware again from iTunes. The unlock i need Redsnow.Due to mine is AT&T set.
So no chance then unlock it using redsnow.
But just like other forumer/user,after full cycle charge, after 5min the battery drops around 10percent.That irrates me.

So bro,its that ok to change my battery together.Any forumer experience this same problem and after battery replace how is it ?

guys,do you think its time to replace my iphone2g battery ? 3 years already with that battery.
what i notice, after battery full drain, when charge, its take about 20min only for full bar.then later make call about 10min its automatically will switch off the phone.
If full cycle charge (about 4 hours),i will reboot the phone.
So after make call about 10min,Sms about 15 within half hour the battery percentage about half.
So do you think can i change the battery now ?
So will that be just like normal battery ?

full cycle charge (about 4 hours)

although after abt 2 hrs into the charging and it shows 100%, i guess it will still  charge slowly wif "trickle charge".............meaning it will still charge slowly until it reaches the 4th hour. this way your battery will last longer as can be seen from your explanation........i too using an i2G and it last longer than my bro's 3Gs laugh.gif

but its really annoys.
after full cycle charge, about 10 min i make call the battery drop about 1bar around 10percent.
so you think is this the time for me to change new battery.3 years yo.

how to reset all setting bro?teach me unsure.gif
*
if you did "Reset All Setting" all your setting will be default.
so most of the power sucker from iphone like Data Push will be automoaticlly "On" then its more terrifing.

My iPhone 4 was at 100% last night at 11pm. It goes to sleep mode after 2 minutes, brightness set at approx. 70% with auto-brightness turned on, left my WIFI on the whole night, turned it off at around 7am the this morning, used 3G for about 2 hours or so for the day, some messaging, no calls, and my battery is at 42% now. How normal is this? It drains pretty fast if you ask me.

Anyway, do you guys leave cellular data (and therefore EDGE) on always? I keep getting the Turn Cellular Data on message if I turn it off.
*
Wicked.apple also advise to reduce battery drain issue,you have to do the following;
-Set brightness below 50% appox
-Off Auto brightness as its sucks more battery power
-On Wifi is nessasary.
-3g data

From what i see,you frequent uses Wifi and 3g data, which is the culprit behind all other power sucking coding.
Any did you know,Data Push also sucks power.Data power mean push message from email, facebook, twitter etc.....

QUOTE(barry80 @ Nov 13 2010, 12:37 PM)
damn! i havin' this problem for the first time too sweat.gif

charged 100% full before sleep, 7 hours later the percentage drop to 79%. standby for 7 hours already eaten up 21%, this is really abnormal. triple checked there is no background program runnin'; turned off everything (only airplain mode is on)

already reboot & now observin' how this thing goes wrong again... shakehead.gif
*
What model you using now ? Apple always advise us to keep update on the latest firmware as latest firmware got bug fixed.Same like my iphone 2g.I thought the last version is 3.1.3 that has no bug fixed.I download direct firmware from apple got battery drain issue bug fixxed.
Some stuff like that.
Since Aeroplane mode wont suck you battery power, there something wrong on you battery.
Its ok,if your phone carried by Malaysia Carrier, bring back to them and have a check.Who knows, you might get a new replacement phone.

QUOTE(krayz_underground @ Nov 13 2010, 05:17 PM)
Different for me.. When I go to sleep, my IPhone Battery is at 53%.

I wake up at 10.00 AM, battery still at 49%.

Then untill evening I use at 5.00 PM the battery is at 21%.

Is that normal?
*
i think its normal.normal data usage.looks normal to me.
Mine worst.
Waiting from Yezhaholic for battery replacement.

if can, when you completed charging your hp, do shut down and restart your phone. it will clean out all the background or any processor running at background. i read somewhere in the internet and tested for few times, so far so good as my battery drain around 5% for playing zombie farm and other apps for 30 mins.
*
look at mine.worst then you.
2 minute of usage and the battery ? haizzzz

Note: phone has been fully charged, rebooted and was in sleep mode for more then 1hours
i just attend 1 call and 1 sms.look at this

If using Winterboard and using theme will "EAT" battery or not ya?

Off course it will. There more its consider as a background application runs thru packages.
But keeps cycle charge and drain will prolong the standby.
