Hi all,

This is Blake from the GameAxis mag, and also the people behind the upcoming EFC tourney in 1 Utama.

I see there is already some feedback about the EFC and I hope I can address some of the questions on everyone's mind and create some buzz for the tourney.

One of the most pressing questions about the EFC must be why we chose FIFA 2006 World Cup as the official game. Well, it's quite simple really. It's the World Cup season!

We initially wanted to stick with FIFA 06 as the official game but since the World Cup edition is coming out around the same time and it's a once every 4 years thing, why not?

It may not be a popular choice with some people, but the difference between both versions shouldn't be that great.

And besides I think with this version, the playing field will be more even and open since everyone will probably have spent the same amount of time with the game.

One of the main reasons why the EFC was organized is to encourage more closet FIFA players to come out of their shells and play competitively. I'm sure everyone wants to see or play with more like-minded players, have a good time and have a chance to win some cool prizes.

It wouldn't be fun if gel or Si Jali won every FIFA tournament around would it? tongue.gif

Another main concern is the participation fees for the EFC. There are 3 simple ways to join.

1. Fork out RM25
2. Bring along your ORIGINAL copy of FIFA 06 or 2006 FIFA World Cup when you registered at 1 Utama
3. Buy a copy of ANY original from the Software Boutique outlet in Ikano (only) in the month of May and bring the receipt as proof of purchase during registration in 1 Utama

As always, if you guys need more details, drop by www.hardwarezone.com.my or drop me a question in this thread.

I hope to see more guys from the LYN league showing their stuff in the EFC.

GL HF

Hi Blake,
I've one pressing question though
will the actual tournament actually take that long (5 days) to complete?
For those of us who are working and really want to participate, it'll be hard to fork out the weekdays off from work
so maybe u can give us a little more details on just how the tourney will take place
hopefully that can help us working, yet competitive enthusiasts some idea on how to plan for those few days out from office
THX a MILLION!

Oh ya i almost forgot. Thanks for reminding me.

The tournament days will be on Saturday (3/6) and Sunday (4/6). If the response turns out to be overwhelming where we have a lot of players participating, we might use the Friday (2/6) as well for the prelims.

BTW, here's another piece of good news. We will be holding a lucky draw where 5 lucky players will get to win a Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller For Windows, this baby here http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/p...detailpage.mspx

The draw is tentatively scheduled to take place on the last day, Sunday, 4/6. So for those that dont win anything, you might just get lucky and go home with a very cool controller.

Cool, better hope the winner doesn't win that  tongue.gif

Ok, one question here.....why there isn't any loser's bracket in the knock-out stage? I find loser's bracket is more fair to those 2nd and 3rd place winner. If the tournament can be held for such a long period, i think time of having loser's bracket is not problem, isn't it?

Thanks  notworthy.gif

sorry man, but loser's brackets just take too long. We have only two tournament days available.

The reason why we only have the tournament days on Sat and Sun is because we hope that more players, especially the students and working types, can make some time on the weekend to come and take part.

Then what events are to be held on Wednesday (31/5) and Thursday (1/6)?? Is it for registration and computer testing only? What if the participants can't make it to come on these 2 days?

Oooh i don't know if the PS Controller or XBOX Controller offers a more comfortable handling and performance...which one is better? The XBOX Controller looks bulkier and big to me  sweat.gif

Anyway how much is the Xbox controller selling in lowyat?
*
Wed and Thurs are open days where anyone can come to the event and try out the game or PC. We will also hook up some machines with the Xbox 360 controller for anyone to try.

Also, during the first three days, Wed, Thurs and Fri, those present can participate in stage/booth games, lucky draws, giveaways, etc to win some cool prizes.

We try to be very accomodating in every way possible so that everyone can get chance to take part. If anyone really cant make it on Sat and Sun, then we cant help it. The tourney has to go on without that person. smile.gif

The Xbox 360 controller is good, if you have big hands like me. I have fairly large hands and it fits me perfectly. My colleague who has smaller hands did complain about it being uncomfortable after an intense session of playing. If you are really interested about how it feels or play, come down earlier to the event and check it out yourself.

I have no idea how much its selling in Low Yat, but i can assume that its not that cheap.

yo, maxism!!!.....tested the controller redi..really not nice with fifa..dono why got 2 keys cant use wan...so blur with it...mine also got stains everywhere....at first got problem with mine leh..cause the controller like uncontrollable....then i reinstall the driver..then its normal now...
*
yes, i've also tested the 360 controller with FIFA 06 and its crappy. You cant use the trigger buttons even if you have installed the drivers.

But its great with 2006 FIFA world cup. The game supports the controller by default so you dont even need to install the drivers. The trigger buttons work too, but sadly only as the sprint buttons.

I personally find it ok with Fifa world cup but i got comments from some people that its not as responsive as the logitech. There is like a split second lag time.
