Lol i'm here and here's the lowdown :

This is a public event, why the hell are we forced to leave our passports/drivers' license/IDs at the guard ?

This is a public event, where're the smoking zones ?

The Wifi here blocks off msn and i'm guessing most IMs, and it's slow.

I have no idea what to do for food during the evening without driving out, next time get some fast food chains to get their mobile kitchens in here.

That's all for my rant for now

not for public.... only for UM students...
students can go back to their hostel to get something to eat.
that is why you have to leave your id card at the check-point.

There are almost 30,000 people in UM= 25,000 students and 5000 staff... UMICT does not need the public to support the event.

no smoking zones? sorry to say, all government facilities are no smoking zone....

So? to all outsiders, stop complaining, you must follow UM rules just like 30,000 of us

Hey there,

I'm a student from UM.

Students in UM work really really hard to make this a success. They don't expect the guards to be that strict during the planning.
Planning this event in UM takes MONTHS. Getting permissions from the local uni to held an event like this is super duper difficult.

It was a last minute rule set by the Vice Chancellor that starting from this semester, they will be more strict.

Not just you guys hate the security in UM, student in UM are protesting too now.

We just want some support from the public, to get exposure on planning an iT fair

Just my 2 cents, I'm from engineering. Not FSKTM. =)

No offence to all =)

If the security guards are not strict, outsiders are using UM as their shortcuts from KL-PJ-Damansara, vice-versa, causing a massive traffic jam in the campus. Some criminals will take advantage of this situation before by snatching students' laptops, bags etc. etc.. I'm sure that you have heard the robbery happened a few years back in UM. So, UM must take care our patrons for the benefits of our staff and students. It is not that difficult for students, just get your vehicle stickers and the guards will never bother you. To outsiders - if you have no OFFICIAL reasons to be in UM, thus, you are not supposed to be here in the first place.

Why we need the public? There are 30,000 people in UM plus 100,000 of your parents/siblings/spouses/children. So, UM students and staff should promote and bring their family members to the event.

Hey, reina_carmen, thx for supporting us ^^
Frankly to say that, we really hard to get those approval from HEP (hal ehwal pelajar), TNC (Timbalan Naib Canselor) that allow public to come in UM...even UM students are hard to get inside campus by driving a car..=.=

actually what budakcomel said I disagree... We really need public to support our events..not only open for UM students and UM staff..can u imagine, there are 30k ppl in UM...but onli 7k ppl come to join our event?? (somemore we are open to public).. u canot aspect all of UM ppl will drop by..that's y we need to aim all the public...but unfortunately the security problem makes things difficult..I'm here to apologize for the inconvenience.
