Getting a hedgehog in a few weeks time. I've been doing some research for the past few days. This is what I plan to use for housing and bedding Housing: big unused hamster cage(when it's still young) then plastic storage bin(s) when older with netting on top and holes on sides, maybe can make bigger wif other bins and tubes. Bedding: fabric Is it ok? What else should I know about hedgies besides what you can usually find online?

QUOTE(Salt&Pepper @ May 29 2011, 12:09 AM) oic... i gutloading the mealies with oats, haven't feed them with veggies & fruits. and i can see that the mealies are more plump than yesterday. I wonder my Papoy ate lesser mealies compare to yesterday. just now I handfed him with 5 mealies & after that he turned his face away when I offered the 6th mealie. some more spread his legs as if it's a sign that "I'm full" & continued lazing inside his playpen. so skinny mealies make the hedgie crave for more, isn't it? I keep mealies to feed my tarantulas so I gutload with powdered mixture of good quality cat food, fish food, oats, milk powder and breakfast cereal. They get really fat, compared to just keeping in oats, but my hedgie likes them either way oh and forgot to mention fruits and veg like carrots This post has been edited by verulin: Jun 1 2011, 05:42 PM

QUOTE(Ken.B @ Jun 2 2011, 10:00 AM) I did tried adding milk powder in it too. But I doubt they'll consume it cause I've made an experiment by taking some mealies and put them into a different container which has a teaspoon of milk powder and some vegies. After a few days, I don't find any changes in the amount of milk powder. I waited a few days more and the milk powder is harden. I just throw in anything that I have I also noticed that the mixture will harden after some time, but I just stir up everything then ok

I find that once the hedgie gets on your hand, he/she will almost immediately uncurl. So if its all balled up, I scoop it up together with the bedding as cushioning, then brush it off. messy, but it worked for me.

QUOTE(ddr3 @ Jun 22 2011, 04:59 PM) realli? u might wanna search 4 TESCO, GIANT quite mahal.....the brand is FELTON =D can also try looking around Carrefour. I got a 19"x12" floor space storage bin for my leopard gecko at rm16(just an example; this bin not suitable for hedgies cz it can't fit a wheel). They are having promo on other bins too This post has been edited by verulin: Jun 22 2011, 09:17 PM
