Sorry to hear abot your loss. cry.gif Mine once ended up inside the pumping hole on the ground where water discharges, took me heck of a time to get her out.

anyone know who to make a diy wheel for the hedgehog?
*
Try this > quite Interesting ... or this
.. As for me I rather save the hassle and buy one.

For far Silent wheel and Silent Spinner are the same to me, cause I have both. Only the price is more expensive for Silent Spinner. Overall after using for more than a year, I never face any issues as reported.

hi, i'm quite interesting with this hedgehog. izzit any exident recored with its spike? can they shoot out their spike?
*
What is 'is it any exident recored'? I can't make up any words to interpret what you're saying.
Anyway, neither porcupine nor hedgehog are able to shoot out their quills... This is how a porcupine looks like.

Shoot out their quills and they'll be bald in no time. doh.gif

Shouldn't be a problem. Cedar is the one that is more hazardous to health.

Cedar (Cedrus) is a genus of coniferous trees in the plant family Pinaceae. (source wiki)

Some beddings are made of cedar, hence more hazardous to our little critter's health (cause they live on it)... If you read up on cedar bedding, it contains some kind of acid or poison that may cause lung inflamation.

Generally beddings like Chipsi is okay. Perferrably without fragrance.

hi guys, may i ask what are hays for?
*
As food for animals? Or home to make their nest... But not for hedgehogs.. Perhaps Chins, Hamsters, Mice, Rabbits.. Or Cow? Goat?
And also depends on the type of hay you're referring to.

Difference is just color variation. Black eyes then ppl will call it something else other than albino. Perhaps it will be called leucistic hedgehog, just like sugar glider?

I just change straight way, without slow reduction.
Example : On RC diet, if want change to 8 in 1, just stop feeding RC and replace with 8 in 1. First day got wastage, after day two and three, mine is used to it. Now currently on the new hedgehog sample from jtl. I just stop 8 in 1 and replace with sample straight. eventually they'll eat.

Someone please help me....My xeon toenails too long le and i dont know how to trimm it,can someone teach me what to do?I with him 1week+ and sometime he still afraid of me,and now i m in kampar i think there is no vet nearby after i ask all my friends.I plan to bring him back my hometown vet and i afraid that too late becuaseĀ  he just hurt his lower eyelid...

use a dark cloth and cover the head (may help it relax). turn it around and wait for it to stick it's leg out. if its' relax enough, it won't move too much and you can just trim the nails.
otherwise, you may need to grab it's leg, apply some pressure at the feet and hold it firmly. Then trim the nails.

beware not to cut too close to the flesh. the pinkish part with blood vessels in it. Use a normal human finger nail cutter.

Hi, If you just going back to sarawak for holiday, than there is no need for you to bring your hedgehog. But if you wan to bring them back because u have finish your study, than you should try this:

1st: U need to call Sarawak Jabatan Hidupan Liar to see weather Hedgehog (give them the Scientific name) is in the banned list. If they say no. Its mean u can bring them back.

2nd, Call Jabatan Perhilitan at KL to ask the same thing. And ask them the Procedure to get a Permit for Exotic Animals.

4th. After you got all the detail, Than you can got Dr.Jenny there to get a health report. A letter/report is acceptable by the Jabatan Haiwan as long it's indicate that your animal is Free from any virus.

5th. After you got the report, you bring/Fax/email the health report and Permit of Exotic Animal to Sarawak to make Permit for Sarawak again. This time you got 2 permit to make, 1 is from the Jabatan Hidupan Liar (dunno what they call in Sarawak) and 1 is Permit Import from Jabatan Haiwan.

6th. After you got both Permit from Sarawak, Bring/fax/email them to KL again and go to Jabata Haiwan at Shah Alam or Cheras with your health report to make a Health Certificate and Permit Export.

7th. Finally after you got all the Documents, You can bring them to Mas Cargo and send them back.

P/s: Since it's a Exotic Animal, quarantine is required. Only Small animals like Hamster, Guinea Pigs, Rabbits don't require Quarantine.

Good info. thumbup.gif

But how do they define it as small animals? A hedgehog is far smaller than most breeds of rabbits and some isn't some rare breed guinea pigs and rabbits considered exotic?
