Okay.. But I honestly think we're getting off topic with the food..
I just wanted to know how I could help my hedgey with the dandruff, not provide the best possible food..
*
well, it's not off topic..
cos their diet is important to their health...
it's not about the best possible food, but the right food...
fruits? not the right fruit...once in a while u can try but they usually dun eat fruits....

hate to say it cos u already asked not to, but bring it to the vet?

hi all..have a question here. I have a about 7-9 month hedgehog and the hedgehog pregnant (so weird coz i dont have a male hedgehog so i know that the hedgehog is pregnant since i buy from the breeder.) then got a ALBINO Hedgehog. the albino hedgehog is about 2 month now. the question is, i know hedgehog is solitary animal so when can they will be separated ? or they can live togeether coz they are family?
*
ur stories all very contradicting la...
dun really understand the picture here...

i remember in another thread, u say that u bought ur hedgehog from your cousin..
now here in hedgehog thread u say u buy from breeder...

so how many hedgehogs do u have here?

2 months old?
separate them

they r solitary animals, family also cannot live together
male female, lagi cannot live together, inbreeding

they can eat now...
but as hoglets, they need more fats n proteins to grow
so it's better to feed 36..
32 will do just fine...

u didn't plan for this pregnancy?
y did u pair them in the first place?
read up on how to care for pregnant hedgies.
separate the mom n dad
or they'll eat all the babies when they r out.
hedgehogs r solitary animal, they live alone
only pair them to breed, else never do that

use a sppon...
if the hoglet smells different, the mom might eat it
most of the time the mommy will put the hoglets in the nesting place....

dun try n peek at the hoglets, the mom might feel threaten n eat the babies...
best way to look that the babies is to give her a hide box that u can open the top
when she comes out to eat, u can peek at the babies...

Guys, I heard that hedgehog only pregnant once a year. What happened if the hedgehog pregnant more than 2 times a year?

For Example, the hedgehog give birth at June.. In September the hedgehog pregnant again .
*
that's not true...
they dun have season or anything, that's y it's important for the breeder to control the breeding or it will be bad for the mother
normally the breeder won't breed the mother more than 2 times a year...
it's important to separate the hoglets from the mommy at 3 months old cos if not the male hoglet might be mature n mate with the mother...back to back breeding is not good for the mother's body, very stressful

That's why im a bit scare coz i separate the mother and the male when the male is 2 1/2 months old. Im scared if the male might be mature when the age is 2 1/2 month and the mother will pregnant again coz the mother already give birth in march.. The male is already 3 months old now...
*

but i guess not la..
2.5 month is too early la...

Hi. I don't own a hedgehog yet, but am hoping to someday. I'm doing as much research as possible on hedgehogs for better understanding towards them now. I wish to own one when I'm really ready, won't wanna kill it coz I'm not. I read some sites, it's said that it's better to buy/adopt hedgehogs from breeders as they are much friendlier and better around ppl. Is it true? But I don't know any hedgehog breeder. Pls help! Thanks! smile.gif

Absolutely correct!

But I don't know any breeders. I do see alot of pet shops are selling it now. How?
*
I think u can find some home breeders in lyn sales thread
ask around, then go take a look at the hedgehog n then see how they handle their pets...
u can see how's the temperament of the hoglet from there

hehe, if u ask me a year back i would sell u hoglets..
but i dun breed them anymore
cheers!
