What's wrong with emulators???

Haha...I played it waaay back, too. And I went to great lengths to get my sf2 fix. Got busted by cops for being underage in the arcades. Skipped school, sneaked out of the house at 1am. Ran into trouble with gangsters. Picked up smoking. Luckily didn't pick up 'ma kei'...haha. Bought the chinese magazines with the move lists, even though I couldn't read it. Read the comics. Drew sagat doodles in my exercise books.

Then my dream came true...SSF2 came out on mega drive! I would have never left the house, but my parents banned me from playing except for weekends. So I stayed up till on fri nites till midnight ngam ngam...then turned on my mega drive. Those 6 button sega pads were really good, too. The d-pad was waaay better for fighting games than the PS3/360 controllers of today.

Stopped playing after alpha 3 and X-men vs SF in '99.

Fast forward to Feb 2009...and it's happening all over again...

Shit dude, I didn't know you played so much SF2, nor X-men vs SF for that matter! And yet you don't want to buy MvC2.

Subang arcade is it?

wow.. am quite surprised there r lotsa players here from the 20-cent-per-game-with-player-sits-next-to-each-other era...

still remember when players insert coins as deposit while waiting for their turn, those malfunctions buttons, polices and gangsters etc etc..

nostalgia..

See, now I think there's a need for 'grumpy (married - optional?) old men' bracket in the tournament...

Was talking to my wife yesterday, and I tried to describe the tournament to her.

She said, "Wait, you mean it's probably gonna be a bunch of 30+ year old guys are gonna be sitting around several LCDs, playing a game that involves mostly buff, half-naked men chasing and pounding each other?"

Showed her the posts on the other thread about what akuma does in his Ultra(presumably ass-raping regardless of sex, according to several sources), and now she's questioning my sexuality as well.

KARA actually means canceling a move to another move (can be normal, special, super or ultra) to gain distance advantage. Example, Ken canceling his forward+mk into a grab to gain distance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, GURU's.

Ask senzr about his kara demons; I think he's been enlightened, and found a trick that involves an un-escapable wake-up demon with f+MP -> Super demon (not Ultra, thankfully).

He's got some real neat tricks about countering FAs with his Ultra as well; something like one hit (cr.HK -> Ultra) to take the FA absorb, and then boom! 23 hit butt rapes.

I dunno but i've tried doing it with forward mid punch,
If the execution is fast enuf, you can't even see the mid punch come out...
I haven't fully tried but if i'm not mistaken, a reflex jump is all it takes to avoid...
*
Actually, it's a delayed forward mid-punch that puts you in the trap...

I've experimented around with senzr, and because of the mid-punch animation, it locks you down in block-stun (assuming you're blocking), and you can't escape from that. We've tried it, and you can't jump out of it actually.

This only seems to work with the Super, not the Ultra though; you can jump out of the Ultra, but not the Super.

Also, the roundhouse version gives you into a pseudo-command throw kind of move. Almost a SPD range, I believe...

But yeah, someone posted a video on the Akuma karas; check that out for more information.

^^ if the opponent is jumping towards you with a kick or something, then you can execute the Ultra RD, will most prob kena.

otherwise, I think the best "sure kena" way is to FA and execute the RD as the opponent is slumping to the ground
*
From what I observed so far, the best way to land an anti-air Ultra is a crouching kara-cancelled demon, i.e. cr.HK > Ultra. It'll put you in a crouching position before the Ultra comes out, and you'd get a little more frames to avoid that jump-in.

Wow, I'm gone for awhile and suddenly everyone's talking bout kara demons...haha.

This makes the F+MP kara demon great for wakeup, esp after an SRK and your opponent does a quick stand. However, kileak found a way to escape this (to my dismay)...just don't do quick stand...haha. The super RD will whiff.

Kileak - "I've experimented around with senzr, and because of the mid-punch animation, it locks you down in block-stun (assuming you're blocking), and you can't escape from that. We've tried it, and you can't jump out of it actually."

This is not completely correct, because you MUST enter the RD inputs BEFORE the chopping hand hits. This is true of any RD, the opponent CANNOT be in block stun or it will whiff completely. Your opponent will be blocking in the middle of the chop, but make sure the MP doesn't hit.
*
There, the kara rapist speaks.

Clearing some things up though, BECAUSE of that chopping hand, pushing back will put you in block stance. Since it takes a few frames to get out of block stance, as long as the RD comes out BEFORE it hits you, you get raped. Can't jump out of it, believe me, I've tried; like Darkstalker pointed out, Ultra takes a few more frames to come out, thereby making it escapable.

As for the wake-up, I've found that it's unescapable, from several experiments; you pretty much have to guess whether the kara demon is coming earlier/later to delay your wake-up. Then again, because of the mechanics of the game, a lot of people tend to do quick get-ups from the ground; I've found getting up late to be quite an effective tactic actually, to throw timings off.

Unless you're Andrew. He can simply tech hit the Ultra RD once Akuma catches him. Even Akuma doesn't want to mess with him.
*
lol i'd really like to meet this Andrew guy.

A SFIV player without friends are lame. you only have 1 brain..let your friends help you also..

doing secret trainings are hmm how to say..WTF?..you can win the battle but you lost the war.. ppl will think you are selfish, you are unfriendly and no one will root for you to win.

im improving and i let the whole world know, and i hope ppl can counter me ..thats how gaming is.. not afraid to lose, but afraid of not improving..hehe

Hear ye, hear ye, Grabbie speaks. rclxms.gif

Totally agree that you should step out, and not be afraid of losing; just learn why you're losing in the first place, and not be afraid of asking for opinions and advice.

BTW, Zangief Version 6.0 on the way? 5.0 already very good le, can release into market already biggrin.gif
