QUOTE(sordanny @ Jul 11 2009, 12:22 PM) guys i'm in a dilemma and need some wow is it really true for all units of k40ab? if thats the case i might wanna reconsider whether to get the k40ab or not. High cpu temperature is a huge turn off for me! bought a K40AB for my brother and he has told me that it is very hot..... 60 at idle, 80 when watching movies..... kinda defeats the purpose of having a laptop for mobility if there is no other alternative other than to open up the back cover to cool it... so he suggest we go back to the shop to exchange for another model... u guys think it is feasible??? pls give some ideas.... |

QUOTE(Najmods @ Jul 11 2009, 04:47 PM) Well, other notebook at similar price point also having similar problem. I guess 14" is too small for decent cooling hmmm i guess thats true too. i'm using an acer 14 inch notebook and its hot as hell! especially when i'm doing cpu intensive tasks. Well i just hope that the k40ab won't be as terrible as that. anymore user opinions? |

QUOTE(Najmods @ Jul 11 2009, 08:48 PM) No la, I've tried some programs, won't work, ATiTool not register anything, ATi Tray Tools Overclocking won't work (thankfully the other driver control works) err mind a noob asking? but what is a heatsink? I even plan to put more heatsink, there is some gap inside where I can put some very low profile heatsink. But I forgot where did I put those heatsink, my room is a big mess |

QUOTE(Najmods @ Jul 13 2009, 09:43 AM) What do you mean you don't know? This are what it called heatsink: i was just asking since it was mentioned in this thread, so no need to be so uptight, i did not ask out of thin air.![]() Why don't you Google before asking? Its easier and faster, plus for such ultra noob question ask in proper place This post has been edited by hanz08: Jul 13 2009, 10:22 AM |

hey guys i need some help over here!
so i just phoned my local dealer and told him to put my k50in order on hold. I'm about to go off to uni this coming september and i need a new laptop within this 2 weeks. so basically i will be using the lappie for school work, movies, music and some gaming (red alert 3, bioshock, L4D etc.) will the g102m be enough? oh and i'm quite picky when it comes to temperature management, i don't like laptops that are hot. RM2999 for the k50in and RM2400 for the K40ab (2 gb ram upgrade + windows vista) so.. the k40ab or k50in? please share your opinions and help a distressed guy here. QUOTE(miahahaha @ Jul 14 2009, 01:49 PM) What kind of hot? An idle hot or when playing games hot? Some laptop idle temp is warm (around 50-60C) & when playing games shoot-up to 80-90C...so which definition of hot are you referring? i care more about idle hot. as my acer laptop cpu's idle temperature is around 60 to 65 degrees and i find it hot for me. will the k40ab be as hot as it? well at least the keyboard and palm rest area?Asus K40Ab should be warm enough when idle (temp around 60C).. |

QUOTE(sordanny @ Jul 14 2009, 02:02 PM) read my post earlier for the temps hmm. just like my current laptop. but the k40ab still seems like a good buy. i reckon that external coolers ain't gonna help much? what about undervolting the cpu?i bought this model for my brother but changed to another model because of the heat.... the palm rest and touchpad area is not hot actually the hottest part is at the top right hand side of the laptop near where u plug in the adapter Added on July 14, 2009, 2:03 pmi'll add the temp figures just for your convenience idle 59-61 movie 80 gaming 90 within 15 minutes |
