I live in Singapore (I'm Malaysian though), same as Astria, but the rules are different here. For Singapore, it is explicitly stated (on the Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority Website, FAQ Section) that laptops will be charged a 7% GST.

Anyway, I seemed to have answered my own question. I hope this would help everyone else.

Good news: the answer is, both sales tax and import duties for this laptop is zero.

Reason being laptop falls under heading 8471.30 of the World Custom's Organization HS Nomenclature, and 8471 is non-taxable under the Royal Malaysian Customs. See the screen shot I've attached for conclusive proof so if they send me a letter, or hold up my laptop, I'll chop their asses off

Asus's Terms and Conditions stated "The upgrade order must be requested no later than 02/15/ 2010." But, it's unclear as to which timezone the date is so fixed  ... Hence, for easy-to-remember n prudence, let's fix the date to VALENTINE'S DAY next year. If gf/Bf or wife/husband/mistress/gay/lesb  ask you want what gift for Valentine, u can tell her/him "Asus Win7 Upgrade DvD" loh   

Hey guys. Anyone of you joining the Asus notebook sleeve design contest? The one where you get to win a UL series notebook. It provided very little information on the contest and so i mailed the related staff but got no reply >_>  And it doesnt seem like there're threads goin on about it too.
