Hey guys, I would like to ask for recommendations for asus performance notebook. Well, actually I prefer the most cost effective one. My budget is around 3200 +- 200.

can i add graphic card inside my asus lappie?

U50Vg lo? i just bought it yesterday. exactly same spec and price as U80V except for the bigger screen (15.6") and the graphic card is Nvidea instead of ATI.

Is there noticeable diff in weight in those two? If the weight is not much, 200-300grams then it is ok, coz most of the time the laptop will only be on top of the cooler on top of the table.

Battery wise, is the extra 1"++ is taking much battery?

Laptops with numpad is kinda cool. But 320GB hdd of the K40 is tempting, sadly, I've not encountered any shop that offered 320GB option for the K50.

I'm not planning to take it out often. I think in 1 month, maybe around 2-3 times wanna go out and have free WiFi somewhere. Majority of the times the laptop will just sit there on top of my desk.

Is it OK to leave the laptop without any cooler? My old S41 I can leave it there for 2 weeks without any cooling and it still rocks and warm to touch. How about the K40/K50? I heard AMD Lappy pantang takde Cooler.

I lazy want to go page by page, but what is this U80 specs and price are like? Is it rare? I cant find it in any WTS forum.

what i meant was besides the graphic card n the screen size, everything else is exactly the same, the proc, the hdd, the ram etc n even the price. bleh. :\

why before 11th of september? O_O  need it to plan another 911 incident ar lol. U80V with the C2D P8700's at RM3799 if i've not mistaken. Comes with Vista Home Premium, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, ATI HD4570 Mobility. Webcam and other misc are basics.

I'm not trying to demote asus here but if you're gonna get a laptop now at tat price range, i suggest the DELL Studio 15's that is on promotion. RM3399 with all the specs almost indentical to the U80V except the processor, which is a P8600. And the HD4570 sports GDDR3 compared to the DDR2 HD4570 available in the U80v. However DELL only gives 1yr of warranty while ASUS gives 2yrs. Finally, no freebies and laptop bag

Since I am now having lectures for 5hrs in 1 go every Monday, I have tried pushing the battery to the limit...

Using Power4Gear Hybrid, in Battery Saving Mode, LCD to least bright, and with WiFi switched on, I managed to squeeze out 3hrs of battery with approx. 20% left according to Vista

Basically, what Power4Gear Hybrid does is to disable Aero and limit the CPU to max 60% only... Together with ATi PowerPlay downclocking the GPU, this effectively reduced the power consumption of 2 of the components that suck the most power.

Thus i believe 3.5hrs on N81Vp should be possible... The key is to tweak the power option...

if i buy studio 15, i would need to wait for the delivery, which has unknown time from 1 week to 1 month.
so i would rather get one that's ald built and can get it on the spot as soon as i've made the purchase.

how long the u80v battery will last? it's 6 cell right? can it be upgraded to 9-cell or even 12-cell one? 

oya btw, what's the difference between a ddr3 gpu and ddr2 gpu of the same model and same memory?

nonono it's not that i wanted to get the XPS M1530. a friend of mine got it 2 weeks ago for RM2799. He said it bought it online but I dont see it anywhere when i checked yesterday. I was curious of the specs as i was thinkin he might have gotten a better deal with the Studio 15. So anyone knows of the RM2799 XPS M1530 specs? Or if it is discontinued or something? He said he got RM700 rebate for that lappie.

lol well i myself am using the Z53s with the 8600m gs. It's been 2 yrs and nothing's wrong.... yet but my core clock was downclocked to 500mhz and my memory at 400mhz. 3dmark06's score was real bad but somehow it still handles games pretty well. hope the downclock was a measure to prevent the gc from dying like what used to happen to 8600s T_T
