QUOTE(night @ Oct 31 2014, 05:38 PM) Most welcome. Just got mine changed recently. Whole process took me less than 10 minutes. Do remember to bring cash of RM240 (deposit) + RM10 (Stamp Duty) + RM3 (Processing Fee). And remember to bring previous TNB Bill to verify on the Account Number. Oh thanks again. But how about Syabas?

Hi everyone.
Thought of sharing my experience yesterday when I went to TNB to change name from old owner to new owner. The TNB branch I went to is at UTC (Puduraya) as there is also an LHDN branch there.
1. Bring photocopy S&P, photocopy IC, and at least one electric bill/statement 2. Fill up form 3. Pay money at counter (This includes the RM10 stamp).
It appears that I do not need to go to LHDN to buy the stamp. Everything is done at the counter.
Plus points for UTC: opens until late (9pm or 10pm) Minus points: infamous puduraya jam
Additional info: After checking the account, the TNB staff told me that the premises is using "commercial tariff" because it was previously registered to a company. If you purchase your property from a company (even though it is a residential property), you can ask them this question and this can save you from paying extra for electricity.
Hope this helps.

TQ for the info. Question:- a. For the S&P, photosate the whole document of S&P or just the front pages? b. Then the Electric bill/statement is in old owner's name?

Yes, you need the old bill with the old owner's name. Just get the TNB personnel to print.

For (b), if I do not have the old bill from the previous owner I can ask the TNB personnel to print one for me at the office on the spot? I do have a copy of the bill at the moment, but I do have the TNB account number. If I do not need to obtain a physical copy of the bill then I might save the hassle. I suppose you just bought a property and want to transfer the name from old owner to yourself? If yes, just bring your photocopy S&P to TNB, tell them that you wanted to transfer name because you are the new owner. They will give you a form to fill up, take the a few important pages from your photocopy S&P, and they will print out the electric bill from their system. Note: any outstanding amount from current owner must be settled before they can allow this transfer.

Good day, UTC ( Puduraya ) has both TNB and LHDN?
From what I read on the forum, it states that for change of ownership of electric of subsale house, I can just go to UTC ( Puduraya ) to do this TNB? I heard some of them said something you need to go back to your designated area ?
1) So, from my understanding, nowadays its more convenient, let say my Cheras house, I can also go to UTC? Bring along IC, photocopy IC, S&P, photocopy S&P, previous owner bill ( I ask TNB to print for me can ? )
2) After this, do I go to buy setem hasil ( or now no need already? ) and go to LHDN to matikan it or smth ( I heard some of the forummers talk about this )
3) Settle the bill? ( Do we need to pay for outstanding of previous owner? )
If about water bill and indah water, how do we proceed from here? Any place should we go?
Thanks for all the reply, in some confused mode right now cause some of the info is quite old and I am not so sure of the validity as for the newer process, thanks a bunch =)

hi all,
I just sold my house, but the TNB and water bill is under my father's name (already pass away).
What document I need to terminate the electric and water and get back the deposit money, before I pass the key to new owner ?

I was told that once we submit for electric termination (becoz selling house), the TNB will find another day to go to our house to take out the meter. How hassle is that as we need to spare another working day (mon-fri) just to go open the door and let them take the meter ? (meter is inside the house, old house)
Can we let the new owner do the electric account transfer ? I mean I clear the all outstanding balance, then pass on to the new owner (just there is risk new owner did not do the name transfer, and the electric charges is still count on my name).
