Hey guys, I need some help here..
I'm thinking of buying an arrangers keyboard but I don't know which model I should buy.
So far I haven't tried on any arrangers keyboard yet.
I'm thinking of buying the Roland E09 or the Korg Pa 50
or any other suggestions?

yamaha higher end PSR are extremely wonderful. consider this, RM6000+ before discount:

http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/Conten...641&CTID=205500

no experience with the 2 you mentioned, though.

I have a yamaha motif6 , that's why I don't plan to buy any yamaha keyboard..
I used to put it at home, but now i need to carry it around, and I realized the keyboard gave me so much trouble!
cos the motif is too heavy! cry.gif

but thanks for the suggestion.

I went Bentley Music today, they don't have display unit for the arrangers series for Roland..
anywhere else that I can go?
I will go CK Music to check on the Korg keyboards pretty soon.

you can try your luck at chamber music @ sg wang. i've played around with a roland arranger keyboard, but it was around 5~6 years ago. i remember the sound of roland arranger keyboard is awesome, but that's the higher end models. the one you mentioned probably lesser quality, but i haven't follow up recent keyboards anyway so i don't have much clue.

ilovesport, what is your budget?
roland korg and yamaha has good arrangers, but they are different
if you can stretch your budget, the best buy in malaysia is Korg PA500

my brother is looking for a keyboard for live performance. ie he wants to record his playing on the keyboard accompaniment for background music & play them back live. i am looking at either PSR-S550 or E413. looking at the spec for recording, they both mention only 5 songs. cann it be expanded thru usb drive, for example?

oh, then both PSR-3000 and PSR-S900 (basically the same quality/functions, S900 probably much newer) are totally out of your budget.

now i remember i actually played with PA50 before, i wasn't impressed with the sound and speaker, same goes to their first generation of Triton which seems to be the same sound engine for PA50. function wise, i haven't use any arranger keyboard for real, so i don't really know how to judge them.

however, the PSR-3000 empire is using (as well as PSR-S900) is simply awesome, especially the real time vocal harmonization function - you can have vocal harmonize up to 3 layers and it'll harmonize according to the chord you hold on your left hand! moreoever, it can harmonize with either male or female voice (you can change your voice from male to female and vice versa), all done in realtime, and sounds very natural! THAT, alone, worth the RM6000 price tag, simply because there aren't ANY softwares that can do the same. rclxms.gif

you should be able to get the PA500 for around RM3500 after discount.
I can't think of other arrangers with better sounds, speakers and sequencer at this price level
it has a full fledge dual sequencer, piano sound from their CX piano, and much more improved sounds comparing to X50
Only the PSRS900 can compare to this, which is almost double, which doesn't not make sense in malaysia. Yamahas in malaysia are way overpriced, where as Korg's prices nowadays are similar to U.S prices

that said, if one has to sing + real time auto accompaniment, i don't see anything that can compete with PSR-S900/3000, not even close.

Again...I agree with PSR being superiror. I am still a KORG fan...and still own 2 super heavy duty KORG keyboards I still use for Corporate and Wedding Shows. However...I gotta accept that Yamaha has superceded KORG now.

You can ask Little Ice about both my KORG and Yamaha keyboards cos he always performs 'live' shows with me...and he has heard both. That's why he also heard with his own ears how superior the Yamaha is.

Until KORG comes out with a better Keyboard....I dont see it anything close to Yamaha now. Yes... I am STILL a KORG fan..believe it or not.

It is IS40...an old model...which strangely does not sound at all inferior to the latest PA series keyboard! That shows how little progress KORG made since my IS40 model came out more than 10 years ago.

This sound terrible to the Korg Pa series, but don't you think Yamaha is way too overprice?

yamaha is expensive, but not really overprice. you can definitely get some keyboard more or less the same contents with less money, but sometime yamaha keyboard will have something special to give you a 2nd thought. things like easy usage, compatilibity, certain articulations, unique features like vocal harmonize.

you can say it's overpriced, in a way. say, stegea electone custom is about RM40k+, so you'll think ok i can buy few flagship keyboards and setup like a organ, but for maybe half 2/3 of the price and it's much more portable. but the electone is capable of program and change banks realtime and it's easy to do so, can't do that so easily with the keyboards, especially talking about syncronize them. on top of that, yamaha is probably the only company who come out with horizontal touch (imagine you just bend your finger on your key to the left, it'll pitch lower, to the right, it'll pitch higher, just like pitch bend, or should i say, horizontal key aftertouch, you can do guitar sliding without pitch bend), and it's only on their top electones. icon_idea.gif

...that said, whether you need them, is different story. so choose according to what you want loh. biggrin.gif

it's a virtual analog synthesizer, much different from most other keyboards which are usually romplers.

korg has been making synthesizer for long time, and still is what they're famous for today.
