Thank god you did not pay the full price for the Pioneer, else you would be kicking urself in the back side since you feel the Panny is the same quality.

very true.. if u feel a panny is same as kuro then get the panny coz its a lot cheaper, if u feel lcd is better then buy a lcd.. there is no need to rely too much on reviews.. if u feel that plasma is better yet your house will be bright all the time then get a lcd.. nobody lied abt the kuro.. it wasnt known as 'best tv in a bright environment' .. Michaeltan i am not sure where u viewed the kuro but when i tried in anfieldude's house it was clearly better than the pannies that i have seen.. but just like speakers, amps n cables if u cant hear the diff between an expensive and a cheap 1 then it is certainly good news rclxm9.gif

I had manage to nail the 2.2 gamma in Panny service menu. The trick is to use All-Drv and All-Cut to adjust the gamma curve. As you mention, low end is around 2.0-2.1. So you need to adjust All-Cut a little bit down to reduce the luminance. As for 90% grey around 1.3, that's mean your All-Drv is too high (Too high luminance for upper greyscale). Redo the greyscale again after you adjust the All-Cut and All Drv. Look at your gamma curve and look at the color that is either above or below the targeted gamma curve. For eg, for 30% grey, if red is above the gamma curve 2.2, then reduce red cut etc... I think you will get the idea. Below is the final adjustment I got (took me 2 hours to get this almost perfect curve and good greyscale).

Note: ATI pixel is set at YPbPr 4:4:4 which will enable me to see BTB and WTW.

Updated. Must be too tired yesterday and just found out adjusting All-Cut will also reduce the brightness control so black crush do occur. After adjusting the brightness control again using the pluge test pattern, gamma shoot back to around 1.9 to 2.0 again. Looks like this is final result I can get but nothing too serious as your problem where 90% gray at 1.3. I think you set the contrast too high which is why you get this result.

I found the above posting on adjusting the grey scale calibration.

Do I need any additional hardware to do the above calibration?

so who you got to help with the calibration? how much the service cost?
mr anfield, i will be buying by end nov...maybe i can let u calibrate my unit as white-rat??

if you dun mind answering, if its you, deciding between S10 & B650...which one would you go for? i know for someone who owns Kuro, its very difficult to digest lower end models...but...bare with it lerr k?

U can ask anfieldude if he is willing to do the calibration for u.. the last time i asked he wasnt charging yet but the meter alone cost i think usd700 so i suggest we chip in abit just to help in the cost of the equipments n time involved.. it is very time consuming ..

There's Panasonic road show at the Bangsar Village concourse this weekend. Was there yesterday, saw the TH-P65V10, TH-P54Z1 and TH-P42G10K on display. So, the Neo PDP plasma series are being sold in Malaysia, but the volume must be pretty low.

They even had the 103" TH-103PF10 on display! The list price was like RM199,999!!! (If i remember correctly)

rm199,999 maybe we should go to the bank and ask them if they have tv loan.. 30 years:)
