QUOTE(yj-kl @ Jun 30 2009, 05:35 PM) alright!! dun think u'll hv much luck with the V series. its not gonna be available in M'sia. G & S series only for FHD plasma. not even a 50in G series.Solid stuff, should be around 5.5k then!! now, dunno whether itchy to wait for V10 series or not ... hehehe maybe have a look at the panel first ... if its a good panel, i don't see why not just take it ... after all S10 to V10 is still 2k saved i guess for digital cinema colour gamut, one-sheet-glass front, THX ... hmmm... 50 inch Full HD plasma ... finally!!! Added on June 30, 2009, 5:37 pmoh, ok, i guess higher than 5.5k, have to find one to see how it looks like. htkaki, keep us updated if got any promo or change in price ok? Thx, u r the man! specs came out in the panny US site is significantly different from those released in M'sia...i wonder why.. QUOTE(anfieldude @ Oct 27 2009, 06:24 PM) lightning69, This is expected from the S10. As I mentioned earlier, this will not reduce or go away with break in. This needs to be calibrated out. Unfortunately, it requires someone to navigate in the service menu and shd not be attempted without knowledge, care and preferably with a meter. QUOTE(lightning69 @ Oct 27 2009, 08:40 PM) I understand. I read about this green problem but i thought they appear only on green object making the green not looking natural. Somehow it appear on almost all the grey colors making grey look "greenish". Sometimes they are not obvious but other times they are everywhere. 'pro' calibration meaning? get someone to calibrate it for you?I seriously need pro calibration for this one. So for people who wants accurate colors out of the box, stay away from panasonic plasma. using those calibration disc can do? not sure if that's what anfieldude means. |

after reading about de problem lightning69 is having..i begin looking at an old thread..ironically started by lightning69 himself..50S10 vs 50B650..those who provided inputs to tat thread did suggest tat B650 out performs the S10..with IR as its major setback..
Lightning69 himself now suggested tat perhaps he shud've gone de korean way normally to prevent burning & IR we burn i the tv right? With image burn in disc..i read tat with the B650 it wont settle even after 600hours of burning in..is tat true?if so what's de alternative? I watch lots of astro & most channels got permanent logo on corners..if i watch like full day surely will be a problem right.. just out of curiousity..what tv is anfieldude using?unless its Kuro 9G then mayb we can buy the exact same model he's got..then surely no problem This post has been edited by daryl.k: Oct 29 2009, 12:07 AM |

QUOTE(mys_terious @ Oct 29 2009, 11:48 AM) yes u need the meter n need to read up on how to calibrate a tv.. can try avs forum.. but if u r a non techy person like me then its better to get some1 who know how to do it to show u.. so who you got to help with the calibration? how much the service cost?QUOTE(anfieldude @ Oct 29 2009, 11:58 AM) You can try anything its ur set. U just need to be careful in the service menu as pressing the wrong button and saving can brick ur set. mr anfield, i will be buying by end nov...maybe i can let u calibrate my unit as white-rat?? For greyscale the adjustments need to be RCut,GCut, BCut, RDrv, GDrv amd BDrv. I calibrated a S10 before. I cannot remember if I had to change both Green Cuts and Drv to remove the green tint. Also I believe I had to do more that that to get a proper greyscale. The problem is if u change it too much, u risk ending up with a blue or red tint. Also changing this can change the brightness as well on the low scale. The good thing is that post calibration the set looked pretty good with no green tinting anymore. lightning, I cannot think of a safe way of telling you what to do, especially since I do not have S10 in front of me. As such, I am wary of giving the wrong info. As I told you, when I get the chance to calibrate the next S10 and the owner allows me to share the service menu offsets I will post if I feel the risk is low. I will not be responsible for anyone messing around in the service menu and bricking ur set. if you dun mind answering, if its you, deciding between S10 & B650...which one would you go for? i know for someone who owns Kuro, its very difficult to digest lower end models...but...bare with it lerr k? |

saw both S10 & B650 at HN Pyramid. they didnt placed them side-by-side tho..i had to run back & forth to compare them...
actually feel that B650 had the upper hand..color a lot more vibrant..but both had demo disc on (different disc) so very difficult to compare. in terms of reflections, to me (dun fire me) i feel even Kuro 9G also gives reflections. but the area is brightly lid...so inevitably, reflections will be very visible...i just dun find reflection to be a major problem..esp since i'll be watching in rather dimmed or dark environment.. both can get same price from forumer here..exact same price that is without any freebies...so its back to the 1 basic question, Panny or Sammy. on 1 hand, S10 is considered an entry level Plasma on panny's range. reliable brand, japanese but in terms of final PQ output, losses out to B650. on another, B650, is considered a mid-level Plasma (above series 5), good PQ, but reliability is still a question, known IR problem, korean. |

QUOTE(chewkl @ Nov 4 2009, 02:39 PM) He said the "24p" means it has detected the source is 24p but will still convert to 30p or 60p as the plasma cannot display 24p. Hence the question... this is interesting....i think need owners of S10 to give input...or senior master anfieldude can give his highly reliable input...wit re to the IR issue of the B650...can a long hour break in do the trick? like 2 weeks 24hours? and normally how long it takes before IR sets? say when watching Astro channel, Nat Geo or Discovery or football, usually there will be static icon displayed during the program, but fortunately (or not) there are breaks in between...for normal channels, there'll usually be comm break every 15-20mins....for football, each half is 45mins... if IR is encountered, black bar, static icons, what can be done to reverse the effect? in terms of warranty, does it cover a permanent burn-in? sammy warranty only 1 or 2 yrs is it? i see in HN, extended warranty quite expensive...RM1k++ for 3yrs extended warranty... |

understand de frust..but this is malaysia & i'd just like to say..buying power in malaysia is not as strong as our friendly neighbour s'pore..not to mention our RM is small like bacteria..something tat's easily affordable in say US or UK or even s'pore became like super premium item when it reaches our shores..just like import of cars..
Our average salary mark simply dun allowed us to spend rm25k on a tv cos rm25k may last us an entire year..sum ppl dun even make tat much in one year.. Tat being said..i agree with de part wher its really up to us..cosumer to choose..sum may save their hard earn moolahs for 2yrs just to get de tv mounted nicely on their HT room..sum go as far as selling their daily vehicle..sum might wanna tow away atm machines at night but de point is..its up to us consumers..de choice shud be made available to us.. B&O showroom in bangsar village has got a 40inch lcd tg retailing at rm20 or rm30k...cant remember exact but it was a ridiculous figure to pay for a 40in lcd tv..yet..there might be buyers..expats for example..some who earns as much or even more than our PM..might buy them..not cos de tv is feature pack but becos its B&O anyways..i dun think u shud be frustated cos panasonic malaysia can still indent for u if u really wanna buy the tv..only it'll take sum time..its not like its completely impossible to buy de tv here..worse case buy in s'pore.. but..i'm sure i'll have sumone who'll agree with me if i say i'll pick the KURO anytime over panny V or Z or whatever..NEO or not..KURO is still de TV to beat..its stil being used as benchmark & even the new V series were compared to Kuro..came close but not good enough in terms of its ultimate black panel... many of Pioneer's Kuro engineer & staff left to join panny in their plasma development since panny didnt take up Pioneer's offer..so in future..maybe even panny's next premium/elite range will be kuro in disguise |
