I am always wondering what is it like staying in a house which has a forest reserve directly behind.
My biggest worry is the house break ins and also all the uninvited guests - monkeys, snakes, squirrels and of course mosquitos.
At present, BK has many new launches that has the forest as the backdrop.

I also know that it is very cooling.

Can anyone share their experiences

and has anyone got latest update on the planned Subang-Kajang highway traversing Bandar Kinrara via teh Ayer Hitam reserve.

cheers rclxub.gif

hi kee1, i live in one of those BK houses with forest behind. As I'm overseas most of the time, only my parents staying there most of the time. I used to stay in USJ area and then just moved to BK like 2 years ago.

anyway, to answer your questions about the monkeys, the compound i stay within does not have this problem since we do not feed them. But you know how monkeys are, if you start feeding them, then they'll start coming.

as for mosquitoes, I don't find that there are more mosquitoes than usual but everyone in the community has these mosquito nettings installed, so we don't really feel it. Also, the longkangs are all very deep and water's always flowing and also although it doesn't look like it, the houses are actually built on elevated ground from the back, so we don't have the stagnated water situation and water seems to flow from the higher ground at the back to the lower ground in front.

as for thieves, the community has engaged security guards which makes it kinda like gated & guarded compound. I believe more than 90% of the residents are paying for it, so the security is pretty good I would say. So, besides 1 incident 2 years back, I don't think we had any more incidents.

and the best thing of all for me is that when you drive home after a busy day of work, and you can see the forest behind you, it more than completes the day for me.

if you want more info, check out the community website:

Termites... and other types of bugs.

If you live near a forest there is a good chance your house might get termintes...

Check frequently and if need to engage a pest control service to check your house every now and then nod.gif

I live in a BK house one jalan away from the forest. It is cooling and very quiet.

I've had two monkey incidents while I was staying here, once the monkey was hanging off my rain gutter and broke it. But aside from that no major snakes/bugs/etc.

Very different from when I grew up, lived next to a forest in Ampang/Ulu Klang area with *lots* of huge bugs, snakes, monkeys, lizards, some boars, you name it...

My neighborhood has crap security but since I'm not immediately next to a jungle it's not as bad. I hate those selfish neighbors who don't contribute...

the reason I ask
is that in BK 5B there is one 22X80 DST up for sale , asking price RM370K
but directly behind forest.
ad has been up for some time.

cannot imagine monkeys triggering the alarm in the middle of the night
once, my friend saw a snake slithering into the neighbour's house . Frightening sweat.gif

When I was shopping around I did look at some BK 5B houses that were directly next to the forest reserve but I had the same qualms as you so I didn't buy it. At that time (2003/2004) it was going for RM340k so I guess the property hasn't appreciated much over the past 5 years.

sorry to say, but i find it amazing that people in malaysia find it a hassle staying near the forest......people in Europe will be dying to just get a glimpse of the forest..... tongue.gif

I'm staying in bdr putra permai and it's also near the hutan simpan air hitam.... biggrin.gif

the only concern would be termites but any house with a mango tree is prune to termites sweat.gif so u need to check once in a while......as for snakes etc, don't worry it's not tmn negara....i bet the odd are just very low biggrin.gif
