Hello guys,
Just bought my xbox360 last week and right now im just playing with a normal CRT television blush.gif ;
Thinking of buying LCD monitor or an LCD TV for my gaming pleasure.

My budget is only less than RM700 if i want to but LCD monitor and RM1000 for LCD tv(2nd hand).
These are my choices after i made a few research:

1. Acer H233H 24"| 1600x1080 |HDMI |40,000:1 | 2ms
2. Viewsonic VX2433wm 24" |1600x1080 |HDMI |20,000:1 | 2ms
3. AOC 2434 24"| 1600x1080 |HDMI |60,000:1 | 2ms
4. Samsung LCD TV LA32A450C1 32"|1366 x 768 | not sure got HDMI| 30,000:1 | 6ms

Which one is better in terms of gaming experience and graphic quality?
Or if you have any cheaper options, can suggest also.
if LCD monitor, i have to buy speakers as well, so do consider my budget.

is there any big difference between 1080p and 720p? if not much diff, i opt for 720 only to save cost tongue.gif
Thank you.

Yes, most xbox games are 720p anyways. Its not a true 1080p output, just upscaled.

As for the refresh rate, i didnt notice any problem on my 37 inch series 4 samsung.

EDIT: oh yea if it doesnt fit your budget, then get the monitor.

I see. i kinda noob with this xbox360.
so how to connect xbox with the tv?using HDMI cable or DVI/component? or does it have HDMI port in the first place?

edit: actually if LCD tv my budget is rm1000+ cos i dont have to fork extra money to buy speakers. If monitor, add speakers, cables etc also cost me rm1000

get the samsung 32". A45 was quite a famous choice last time for gamers to get 720p.

The 360 had these outputs , HDMI , VGA , Component and Composite . However , I think HDMI and VGA cable are sold separately , and its recommended to use either these two.

Added on June 29, 2009, 6:51 pmOh yeah , for gaming , ditto to the 32" LCD TV .

pick...

Samsung LCD TV LA32A450C1 32"|1366 x 768 | not sure got HDMI| 30,000:1 | 6ms

...for better gaming experience. 24" is too small although the quality is perfect for 1080p.

so the screen size is more important (more syiok) in playing games than the resolution? (1080p) alrite i guess i have an obvious choice already.. thanks guys..
and one more thing, the resolution seems a bit weird.. why 768 and why not 720? will the picture get stretched or got black borders using the samsung 32" LCD tv?

I think viewing distance is more important than screen size. You can't adjust your viewing distance but can always look for screen size to match it.

Set it to 1366 x 768, if choose 720p it will display out of range message.

and use HDMI easier, one cable for video and audio.

You can't "want the best graphics" and also be a budget buyer ...

Having said that, at your budget level SIZE > Resolution, so a 32" LCD TV is superior to a 24" LCD Monitor. Get a 720p one and either go 720p over component cable, or 1366x768 over VGA/HDMI.

im using the viewsonic 24 inch. its full hd 1920x1080p. doubles as my pc monitor. if you're gonna play in a small room then i suggest get the lcd monitor instead. half the price and u'll be sitting quite close to the screen anyway. u can also play HD movies from ur pc at the full resolution.

btw, 6ms response time for gaming? seriously guys? unacceptable. 2ms is the standard for gaming.

if you're planning to create a home theatre kinda thing then by all means get the 32inch tv.

I saw this samsung model 2494HS 24" Full HD. comes with hdmi port with built in speakers. Its rm895 at all It hypermarket. Seems like a good choice since im playing alone.

Can anyone comment on this? Because im thinking of getting it but i dont know whether it would look good or not.

Using those build-in speaker to play games is a sin...

Like some other said previously, get 24" or 27" LCD monitor if you are going to play alone, sitting on a chair in front of your desk. You will enjoy using that as a PC monitor too.

I'm with a dual screen setup, 24" and 19", in PC mode, they make my works very convenient, in gaming mode, 24" showing the game, 19" showing the guides lol, and i don't need to use the stupid messenger in xbox tongue.gif
