QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Dec 2 2009, 07:16 PM) WOW!!!! It gives me a WARM FUZZY feeling that I brought THIS topic up!! REALLY!!!!! Speaking of werewolf, Howling gets remake.Howling and American Werewolf in London are some other werewolf movie I like (American more then Howling). Bare in mind that they are both made in a period in Hollywood were nudity and horror goes hand in hand (why do I have a funny feeling this will only encourage inappropriate people to seek them out!! *sigh*) You think Christina Ricci was "cute" in Cursed, did you see her in Adams Family!!?? Let see if Hollywood will screw up another decent 80s horror. Anyway, I have not watched Cursed yet but the transformation scene is very badly made (thanks to Youtube for giving me an opportunities to look at the transformation scene). Too CGed. Seriously, I still wonder why no werewolf movie beats American Werewolf In London for almost 30 years now in that category of horror. |

QUOTE(jason991 @ Dec 2 2009, 06:11 PM) Er the copy of Descent I have is pretty dark so when I watched it, all I could see was pitch black...So I prefer The Cave because I can see what is happening! Okay okay, can we agree to disagree! |

QUOTE(myVelouria @ Dec 2 2009, 05:41 PM) The Cave is nice eh? same feeling like the Descent? I can only tell u what I felt when I was watching the two movies. I think Ginger Snaps is worth a view.i believe in your verdict, theres no need to seek for Dog Soldier and Ginger Snaps anymore hehe. As u can see there are forumer who disagrees with me, which is cool. I created this thread to listen to peoples opinions. Some I agree with others I don't but that's what makes it interesting!! My suggestion to u would be to see if it is "available" on the net and then judge for yourself. The Cave is more "hollywood" and action oriented compared to The Descent, which u can see from the comments above allows me to see what is happening. My eyes are NOT what they use to be... My two sens |

I think The Descent is well shot. You see and dont see everything the director wants you to see and doesn't want to see. The first half is nerve-wreckingly claustrophobic, and the second half is a fright fest.

Come to think of it, i think i have seen Ginger Snaps. 2 sisters, one of them got bitten by werewolf right? if thats the case, i think its cool! i like the mood, cinematography very dark and evil(?).
Descent sent shivers to my bones especially during the second half of the movie, the ending is quite depressing. i was thinking to watch the Orphan. is it any good? im a bit off when it comes to little kid overacting. |

Orphan isn't a horror movie in my book. Suspense thriller... yes. I really like it even though the ending was spoiled to me beforehand. Very effective and has a good mix of tense build-up and gore.

i see... seems that the Orphan got a good review. ill check it out!
last night re-watched Evil Dead Trap the cinematography and effect is great, plot line is so-so. the idea is great where they blend the essence of snuff films, psycho thriller style and psychic ghost(?). storyline is simple, even have some plot hole. too much effect sometimes u may think it is stupid. anyway 6/10! (a few T&A scene) |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Dec 4 2009, 03:52 PM) Who could say The Omen is not horror? So I suppose he means Orphan is horror....I suppose any movies with disturbing images alongside with disturbing sequence of action plus disturbing motives of antagonist towards their unaware protagonist are considered a horror film. Including both Se7en and Silence of the lamb. |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Dec 4 2009, 09:38 PM) I know where they come from.A lots of old horror movies do not work as effective as they used to. IMO, the very first Evil Dead can be viewed as a comedy as well due to its make up. (No doubt, it's still a classic horror movie) But it was banned in Europe in the 80s. Even new horror movies do not work effective with their tricks. People laugh in the theaters watching horror movies. Which is sad for the horror genre. |
